repeaters

REPEATERS
ditto
thats what i could write this year for my
new years resolutions

i looked back at my blog from last year at this time
and
the year before
heres the links
2013
2012

it seems that my resolutions are the same each year
some i still havent done
now my ruptured disk is an explanation for some of
the delays
last year
but
cant be used this year for not carrying through
with this years resolutions

here they are in no particular order

be happy
the root to a good life

make my wife she happy
i cant be happy if she is not happy
isnt that a basic rule of marriage

exercise
i do that regularly but in an unstructured way
doing ranch aerobics here at the country n
i have a new app on my phone that tells me how
far i walk when i do my ranch aerobics
in a morning of farm duties
it usually ranges from 1.5 miles to as much as 4 miles

now that number jumps if i do my 1-2 mile hike each day
with our two dogs
maverick and marley

ok my new resolution is to do that hike
at least 5 times a week
oh how those dogs love romping across our pastures
smelling those animal smells that are throughout
those flowing grasses
its worth walking to see their happy faces
and
dog tail wagging

even old man maverick looks like a young pup
when i say
come on lets go

volunteer
i read in money magazine that folks who retire
who do only one thing regularly
arent as happy in retirement
as those who do up to four things

lets see

i volunteer regularly for meals on wheels
and now am buddies with at least 3 sharp 90+ folks
for whom i slow down on my route to spend
time talking with them
realizing i may be the only folks they see that day

i volunteer and will continue to do so on
the williamson county habitat for humanity builds
good friendships good folks happy homeowners
nice folks who volunteer their time regularly
and
groups that do it sporadically
i always feel good when the houses are finished
and
the closing ceremonies are done
the homeowners are so proud
and
so appreciative for all the work that has been done

i will continue to work with the alzheimers association
in their walk to end alzheimers
their big fund raisers
realizing they are the reason we are making advances
getting closer to treatment and hopefully a cure

i will continue to do presentations on alzheimers disease
in fact if your group would like for me to do one
just contact me
i rarely turn down a chance to talk about this terrible disease

i will continue to be in the research studies on
alzheimers disease at ut southwestern in dallas
hoping to add a new treatment study this year

i will eat right
well most of the time
and lose weight so i wont have to buy that new belt
im down to my last loophole

i will continue my 36 point prevention regimen that was
successful in the reversal of cognitive decline study from ucla
reversal of cognitive decline a novel therapeutic program

i yes i keep saying this
i will finish redoing my old barn
its like my nemesis i cant seem to get rid of
maybe
no this will be the year
of course that new grandbaby may slow it down some

then
i realize i need to meditate more
just stop and stare is what i call it
to let the mind wonder
and
contemplate on whats happening around me
and
whats up ahead

yep
i need to do more of that
