country n news-farm to fork

COUNTRY N NEWS-FARM TO FORK

you see these places popping up everywhere
farm to fork
using local farmers produce eggs milk meat to decide
what menu to produce on a weekly menu
whats in season determines
whats on the menu

luckily for all of us these tend to be organic veggies
organic and free range meats and eggs
so the flavor of the food is the best
since its fresh
it hasnt been transported up from mexico or out from some
far away state
or meat from australia or agrentina
or the eggs from some
refrigerator somewhere for 6 months after the chickens are
all caged up as egg machines

so these restaurants are healthy tasty places to eat

so near the country n in leander texas is a restaurant called
farm to fork
its one of our favorite places to eat
everything is local even the beer and the wine

as we have learned
make a reservation since on busy nights its hard to get in
if you just walk up there may not be room for you that night
definitely growth is in their future

i enjoy talking with the two owners and the waitresses
the owners raise the eggs and chickens themselves
and
are friends of the owners of east austins eastside cafe
a similar concept restaurant

i give it 2 thumbs up

then
this week i was thinking
you know we sort of have farm to fork here
at the country n

my wife she said what we going to eat for supper
i said i dont know
so she said why dont we have just baked potato and a nice salad

so
i walked out my front door
to my keyhole garden
reached down into the soil between my potato plants
felt around
grabbed me some
new potatoes

then
earlier down in my larger garden
i picked
some cilantro
a few cabbage small heads
a few curly leaf kale leaves
a few dinosaur kale leaves
a few arugula wild type leaves
a few green onions
a few sweet peas
a few spinach leaves
a few beet leaves
a few multicolored small carrots
a few of these asparagus
my wife she chopped all this up into a nice salad
all ingredients were country n grown
throwing in a cooked egg from our country n chickens

plus
she baked those new potatoes
adding some butter touch of salt black pepper and some yogurt

im sorry
you cant eat better than that

farm to fork
country n style
