what to say

WHAT TO SAY

this time of year i never know what to say anymore
i guess happy holiday is the most political correct thing
to say
however thats ok for that whole week from december 24 to
january 1
you know you get off from school or work and dont have
to go back until after the first of january
you go skiing or visiting relatives or just hang out at home
that would be happy holiday

then for december 25th
happy holiday doesnt sound right
only merry christmas

christmas is a time for christians to celebrate the birth of christ
so christians accept this as the reason for the holiday and
thats ok
but
christmas is also the time for non christians or those who dont care
about the religious connotations of this season to
be with family exchange gifts enjoy their christmas break and
to enjoy the time with family and friends

we all just happen to use the same word christmas but have
different meanings for its use
and thats ok

i think we all americans should just use this word and accept
it no matter what our religious or politcal views are
merry christmas and a happy new year
that just sounds right

you can put a religious connotation to the meaning or
you can just put a holiday connotation to it
your choice
which ever makes you happy

i do use the word happy holiday to someone who i know
would be offended by merry christmas but i never know

but ive decided its merry christmas for next tuesday
and happy holiday for the rest of the christmas break
or is it the holiday break
