i voted

I VOTED

i had three choices this year to vote

vote the old fashion way by going to the polls on election day
with the covid 19 outbreaks and the fact it was going to be crowded i didnt like this option

vote early by going to the polls
again that would require going somewhere with my mask and exposing myself
it may or may not be crowded with early voting at the polls
here the dates are for october 31-november 3 for early voting
or
like ive done the last 3 years i could do mail in voting
so
i chose this one
its simple
it arrives in the mail
you mark your ballot
you put it in the envelope provided
you sign the outside and date it with your official signature
you drop it in the mail or drop it in one of several ballot drop boxes scattered around the county
no not like texas where you have only one box per county
we have if i am remembering correctly around 30 of these in our county
then you can track your ballot online so you can tell when it arrives and when its counted

it seems simple safe the easiest way to vote
i dont think ill get covid 19 from voting this year

i also decided to mail in my ballot since i feel like the system works and thats the way it should work
drop it in the mail and it arrives safely and gets counted

the ballot arrives in the mail
on the other side is my name and address

i opened it up and there is the ballot
i used the booklet and the internet to research the candidates and the different ballot measures
i slowly correctly filled in the circles with an ink pen
i folded it back up and inserted in the proper envelope to mail it in as shown below
no stamp is required

i then signed the outside of the envelope and dated it october 3 2020 being careful that my signature matched my drivers license

here our envelope doesnt have to be postmarked until november 3 2020 to get counted
i wanted mine mailed as soon as possible
so then after i signed my outside envelope as above i walked my ballot proudly the two blocks to the nearest blue post office mailbox
i opened the lid
i dropped it in the box
done
i voted safely

then i took that i voted sticker above and proudly placed in on my shirt

that was easy
im not sure what the fuss is all about

now
i can go to the website so i can track my ballot to see when it gets checked in and when my vote gets counted
actually i signed up to get a text when my ballot arrives at the post office and when it gets to the election office and then when it gets counted

yes they start counting early here in california

remember
we will unlikely know who won the presidency for several days this year since so many folks are safely voting by mail
so
be ready to wait

btw
did you know the official vote tally every election year doesnt really happen on election day anyway and hasnt for years

we are just use to the newsfolks predicting the winners and the candidates going by that
sorry
this year they and we will just have to wait

please vote safely
