alzheimers news-clinical trial participants are needed

ALZHEIMERS NEWS-CLINICAL TRIAL PARTICIPANTS ARE NEEDED
at the end of my preliminary interview for the being patient interview that i will do on monday august 9th at 1200 noon pst i was asked
is there anything you would tell folks listening today

byi thats a common question asked when i am on panels or in q and a sessions

one of my answers is
we desperately need clinical trial participants for alzheimers research
without these clinical trial participants none of the research would be done
it would only be done on animals

my drug aduhelm (aducanumab) clinical trials were and are being done on around 3000+ folks worldwide
it took a lot of people being screened to find those 3000+ participants

without these participants this drug aduhelm (aducanumab) would not be available and approved by the fda

the reason i first volunteered for a study was because my mother and younger brother died from alzheimers
my father probably had it
my older brother probably has it
i also figured i would probably get it one day
so
i volunteered to be in the normal control group of a study
during the evaluation which was more thorough than what you would have gotten in a private neurologists office i was found to have mci or mild cognitive impairment thats turned out to be due alzheimers disease

had i not volunteered i probably would have advanced in my symptoms and eventually would have sought out an evaluation

i was able to know early on about my diagnosis and was able to aggressively take care of my health and plan my life
something i did seemed to slow things down

volunteering for a clinical trial early on in my disease probably has given me a few years of normality

it also has now allowed me to be receiving the new alzheimers drug aduhelm (aducanumab) months to years before most americans can access it
its fda approved now but the system isnt geared up to start giving the infusions
it will be months before medicare will make its final decision on if it will cover this drug and if it does who will be allowed to get it

in alzheimers time thats a long long time

im now getting this drug
i will get my 10th dose of the drug in two weeks
had i not got 18 months of placebo i would be getting my 28th infusion

so ive gained time in my fight against alzheimers
a disease where time is the essence in slowing it down

so
we desperately need clinical trial participants in our alzheimers studies
as well as other disease studies

we cant do this without you

volunteer
see clincialtrials.gov to find a study near you
just click on the link
type in alzheimers disease
click
youll find all the available studies in the united states

aduhelm (aducanumab) will soon be recruiting for a long term study required by the fda so it will be available to those accepted in the clinical trials
you have to have a diagnosis of mci or early alzheimers disease

biogen has another drug called lancemab or ban2401 who is recruiting now for participants
it probably works better than aduhelm (aducanumab)
its anticipated to be approved in 3-5 years

lilly has a new drug called donanemab that is also recruiting now for participants
it probably works better also
its also anticipated to be approved for use in 3-5 years

all three of these drugs are going to be studied in folks who are prealzheimers
thats folks with positive blood test for alzheimers (only available in research studies) or a positive amyvid amyloid pet scan or a positive spinal test

so if you think you are at risk for alzheimers and want to know you have it and if you do want to get treated then look at these studies which will show up on cliinicaltrials.gov soon

again
we need your help to find a cure
