my story revisited #167-sometmes things do happen in a good way

MY STORY REVISITED #167-SOMETIMES THINGS DO HAPPEN IN A GOOD WAY

each week i usually write two blogs on alzheimers disease
on wednesday i usually will revisit at old alzheimers blog
right now i am on the ones i wrote in 2014
on fridays i try to write about an alzheimers news topic

over 8 years ago when i wrote this blog below i was following several alzheimers blogs
none of them are being written now except for my blog

one called alzheimers reading room is no longer being written
the author wrote about caring for his mom with alzheimers and about alzheimers topics
he was  an alzheimers researcher also
his mom has since died and he has stopped writing his blog

another called missing jim is no longer being written
the author wrote about her husband jim and is journey with early onset alzheimers disease
early onset is the one that is caused by a rare gene where you get the disease at a young age
jim died in a memory center in his 50s
she now longer writes the blog
at last i heard she was working for the alzheimers association

another called watching the lights go out was written by a retired doctor who was diagnosed with mci that was thought to be due to alzheimers disease
his memory seemed to stabilize
he later had an amyvid pet scan in a clinical trial which was negative for amyloid
he got a reprieve since he did not have alzheimers disease
he also discontinued his blog after that

i also mentioned the reversal of cognitive decline article reviewing a regimen that may slow down the memory loss
the regimen got to be more than i wanted to do so i picked the ones that have been showed to help in research or was based on abnormal labs
since my vitamin b12 was below normal i take b12
sine my vitamin d3 was below normal for me i take vitamin d3
since my homocysteine level was elevated i take folate or folic acid
elevated homocysteine levels may be associated with heart disease and alzheimers disease
since my lipids are elevated i take lipitor or atorvastatin
since my blood pressure was elevated i took a blood pressure med but have been off that one for 3 years but may have to get back on it
i added a probiotic each day since gut inflammation may be related to alzheimers disease
i added the mind diet
i maintain a normal bmi
i take a nap each day to get a total of 7 hours of sleep
i keep active mentally socially and physically
i dont smoke
i use to drink a glass of wine each day but stopped since it worsens stomach discomfort
i have no anxiety or depression and seem to handle stress ok
i rarely ever get angry or upset
i feel relatively chill most of the time
i have been on aricept or donepezil for 12 years
i have had 26 monthly infusions of aduhelm or aducanumab which should have removed all the amyloid that can be measured on the amyvid amyloid pet scan
i am uptodate on all my immunizations since those diseases may be associated with alzhemers disease

now i follow
the beingpatient.com website
it keeps up with whats going on in the alzheimers world
i would follow this site if you are going to chose one to follow

alzforum
it keeps up with recent important research

the alzheimers association website www.alz.org
it is a good reference for anything alzheimers related
i receive their emails and other communications

dr david gibbs blog a tatoo on my brain
he is a retired neurologist who wrote a book with the same name
he was in the same study i am in but had a major aria brain bleed
he has a real good insight into whats happening in his brain
he is starting to progress in his disease

then
theres my blog organicgreendoctor.com
read it on wednesday and fridays for alzheimers information

so two of these old blogs are no longer written because the person with the disease has died
luckily the other old blog was stopped because he didnt have alzheimers disease

my next aduhelm infuson #27 at ucla is at the end of the month

__________

SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE
if your interest is only about alzheimers disease
then read this blog each friday
this is the day that was chosen to write on
anything alzheimers disease related
leaving the rest of the week to write on other topics
not related to alzheimers disease

i wanted this blog to be about alzheimers disease
but not all about it

so
i write on gardening political stuff things in the news
sports green living volunteering and other things that
catches my eye while reading listening or observing
things
oh yes occasionally duct tape stories

so here are the 4 blogs that i follow related to alzheimers disease

of course the organicgreendoctor.com blog

it follows me as i travel along this journey
its slow right now but im hoping it doesnt pick up
anytime soon
it also follows new research thats going on
as i keep uptodate on it
also it follows my research studies as i progress through
them
eg my recent mri scan which i didnt pass gas in was normal
and has not changed in the last 4 years
whew

i of course i am always looking at the treatment side of
things as i want to jump in on something if it seems
promising
eg the reversal of cognitive decline article from ucla
that was written about here a couple of weeks ago
so i try to stay on top of things
and
let you know what im thinking and feeling

if i had to pick one blog on alzheimers disease to
follow it would be the
alzheimers reading room
by bob demarco

he is a researcher who took care of his mom who had
alzheimers disease all the way through the journey
he has written a lot about that journey
helpful things always
he writes a lot about care giving
and
if something happens in the alzheimers world he has
it posted and comments on it

make this one your must read alzheimers blog

another blog i read that is heart wrenching at times
is
missingjim.com

i do struggle to read this one sometimes
as this wife
a young wife struggles dealing with working caring for
her early onset 50 yr old husband her kids and all the stresses
she encounters as his disease marches on
not quite sure how she does it
her stress levels at time just oozes from the written words

i was reading
watching the lights go out

its about a retired doctor writer who developed memory
issues and was told he probably had alzheimers
i have followed him for about two years

during that time he has stabilized maybe improved
and
further testing reveals he may not have the disease
after all

as of now he has suspended his blog
so
sometimes things do happen in a good way

i would hope that this good ending could be
the epitaph for this blog
_________
yes thats what i want people to say after i no longer am able to write my blog

sometimes things do happen in a good way
