THIS BLOG
this blog has turned to a focus on alzhiemers disease and
my story with the early diagnosis but like life we have to have
other areas to be involved in
will plan to continue blogs on green living, solar, rainwater,
gardening, other health topics (like c2bs2 blogs-hope people
got the message to get their colonoscopy-mine was normal )
or if i see something interesting as per the august 21, 2010
blog (see old blogs to the left of this posting)
on new snake skin and new kindergartener which produced
shuttering from non snake lovers and a smile and a tear of past
memories of the first day of kindergarten for the kids
TRUE GRIT
my wife she and i will go to see true grit today
it was filmed near here at a small town
everyone that has gone to see it likes it alot
maybe its just us texans or southerners
not seen reviews of it
my thoughts later
FOOTBALL
alabama looked pretty good
some pro team (no not another college team) will be
getting a new running back next year
tcu purplized the wisconsin team
it was tcus year
wish they would be in big 12
razorbacks vs ohio state
heard ohio state would wear pinstripes for the game
love watching arkansass qb
lsu (their coachs brain doesnt work like most coachs brain)
vs texas am
its just ams year
they look forward to thrashing texas now every year
as texas is reloading with new players and a whole
new coaching group (talk about pro teams)
oklahoma sure outclassed connecticut
but can see connecticut is a team that
will be getting better every year
now though they have to play tcu every year
then there is the cowboys
looks like steve mcghee is going to start
in high school he ran the spread offense and was a
passing quarterback (jordon shipley-ut and now bengals-was
his wide receiver)
in college they made him a running qb and he got hurt a lot
think he is a better qb than most people realize
another of those coaching son qb
he has IT which you have to have to make it in the pros
the final game for the college football championship is not for
another week-thats half a season since their last game
dont think this makes any sense at all
we need a playoff system similar to the other sports
instead of having to watch the goofball bowl or the
tomato paste bowl or the cornflakes for breakfast bowl
despite all this it should be a good game
now if i can just stay awake that late
(dvr thank you)

1-1-11-happy new year, football
1-1-11 HAPPY NEW YEAR
1-1-11
happy new year to the blog readers
today will do new years resolutions
hope to there will be no change in the next year
will do black eyed peas and cornbread today
it will give you good luck for the following year
also will have ripe tomatoes still left from my fall
garden-yum yum
see blog on december 13, 2010 on tomatoes
hope to watch football today and just chill out
FOOTBALL
so you cant salute after scoring a touchdown in college football
but you can do a diamond sign
it aint right
probably two best games today based of course on where
you live and who your favorite team is are
alabama vs michigan state
would like to see ingram play again before he goes pro
maybe he will be healthy and have a good game
other good game is tcu vs wisconsin
this is tcus chance to prove they belong
too bad big 12 couldnt snag tcu to fill a slot from loosing
nebraska or colorado
will suck for them to go back east for their games
but the big 12 did ignore them when the big 12 was formed
in your face big 12

my story, january gardening
MY STORY
i wanted to tell my story because it is therapeutic for me
and for my wife she
at the same time as you follow my story you will be
educated on alzheimers disease such that you will know
more about the disease than most people do and more than
most doctors know and more than i knew 2 months ago
and hopefully will know what evaluation needs to be done
if you or a family member should shown signs of the disease
i have been on both sides as a doctor treating patients, now as
a patient being treated (dont like being a patient very much)
and as a family member dealing with a mother and close
relative with the disease so have seen all sides of the story of
alzheimers
i hope not to make the mistakes with my wife she and i that
were made along the way dealing with the disease previously
this disease will partially overwhelm the medical system in the
near future as more and more baby boomers age
JANUARY GARDENING
some people buy seeds now to be ready to plant for the spring
eg tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, etc
i usually just buy plants at the nursery because it is easier to
deal with
in january i prepare my beds for the late winter and early spring
i remove all dead plants and compost them
our chickens love it as they eat any seeds left on the plants
i then add 2-3 inches of good compost either my own
if available or get organic barnyard compost at the local nursery
then add some molasses across the beds
and will usually add some organic fertilizer
will mix all this into the top 3-4 inches of soil
then will rake it smooth
then cover this with a layer of newspapers and then this
with a layer of mulch
will water as needed to keep the soil from drying out
if no rain has occurred
the worms will come to the surface and eat the newspapers
the worms till the upper soil and poop in it to add more
fertilization to the soil
the bed is now ready to plant
the next crops i will plant are potatoes and onions in late
january to early february
will be picking these up as seed potatoes and as onion plants
in a couple of weeks at the local organic nursery
the next plantings will be in mid march
the beds will have 2 months to ripen
today is a good day here where i live to start working
on the beds
