the elephant

is being ignored by a lot of folks

they are just nibbling around the corners
eating the elephants peanuts

so
my thoughts

should teachers be armed at school
no
i have 10 teachers among my siblings and their spouses
do i want them to be armed if they were still teaching school
no way
would i want my wife she armed
no no way
as trumps says
bad idea
lets drop this one
thats just peanut crumbs

should 18 year olds be allowed to buy a gun
yes
they can drink and drive and vote and die in the middle east
many with guns in their hands

should folks be allowed to have long guns for hunting and for
sport shooting
yes
no problem with probably most americans agreeing

should there be strict laws on all gun purchases
yes
as strict as possible while allowing hunting and sport shooting
and personal protection

should mental ill folks have guns
you have to well define mental illness
depression is common in the us
anxiety is common
bipolar is controllable
autism spectrum is usually not a threatening disease
schizophrenics not well controlled shouldnt have guns

this one seems straightforward but its probably not easy
to define who would be restricted

you are starting to mess with folks rights who have psychological
issues that are not violent

violent folks and criminals and felons
no doubt about it they dont need access to guns
if you have a restraining order against you for violence
you lose your guns

as an aside
did you know who the number one state is for gun deaths
alaska

louisiana
number 15
idaho
the other 13 of the top 15 are mostly in the south

it does somehow bother me
and should bother you
that these organizations
nra
big pharma
financial organization lobbies ie wall street
really control our congress
they provide the money that the congress folks get
from outside sources

yes
they seem to run things
not allowing congress folks to think for themselves
something that seems foreign to them

now
finally
that big ole elephant in the room
that folks on both sides of the issue
seem to be avoiding
some

thats the assault style rifle used in wars
to kill and maime folks
its not used for hunting

in the us its mainly used for sport shooting
and
to massacre kids at school
and
at other locations
like vegas and florida and california

now this is my opinion
an old southern guy
who has owned guns and hunted and has done sport shooting
who has a lot of relatives with a gun
all that doesnt bother me at all

i think
its time for the congress folks to have what it takes
to permanently ban these assault guns like the ar15
and ak47 and their similar relatives permanently
only allowing them for the
us military
us police
us groups like the fbi

its the right thing to do
most americans agreen with me

it didnt happen when all those kids got shot and killed
if it was ever going to happen
it should have happened when all those little kids got
mowed down
it didnt

it didnt happen when all those black folks got shot up
at that nightclub

i didnt really think it would happen after that one

it didnt happen when all those gay people got all shot up
in that gay club in orlando
i didnt expect anything to happen after that event
the comments were pretty nasty after that one

now before i go any farther with this
i dont own a gun
i dont intend to own a gun
would i go out and do shooting at a shoot club
yes i probably would
would i go hunting animals like deer squirrels doves etc
no i wouldnt
have i in the past

do i believe folks should not be doing that
no i dont have a problem with folks hunting game
now shooting tigers cats dogs elephants
thats different

should folks own guns
like many of my relatives do
i have no problem with that
they are the types of folks you want to own guns
law abiding
they use them to hunt
they eat or give away the game they shoot

however
what guns they own thats probably where i differ probably
with them
eg why should an american citizen own a gun like an ak47
there is not a reason
its a killing gun for the battle field
there is only so big a hole you can blow in a hog or a deer
or only so many holes you can put in a animal
when is it no longer fun

last night
in vegas of all places
at a country music show
one article says
50 were mowed down and killed
500 were injured
like
herds of deer in a big field
flocks of dove flying over
all mowed down
from so far awy
up high in that building

why on earth would we let someone to own a gun that powerful
a gun thats probably like the ak47
is meant to kill people and nothing else

now whats different about this
its a country western concert
not kids
not blacks
not gays
lots of bubbas probably were there
where were their guns to stop the shooter

yes
its time for us to do it
make people register guns
make it harder to sell these killing machines to folks
who shouldnt own it
limit the arsenal that one can own

now if i were to own a gun
it would be to keep here at home
in case someone breaks through my door
i would choose an old double barrel shot gun
raise that sucker up
blow the intruder away
but
i am also afraid that bad things could happen if i keep
guns here
the odds are real real small if not infinitesimal that that
would ever happen
so
im happy not being a gun owner
but
i do feel its time
the bubbas got hit hard this time
maybe
that will make it happen

i own a gun
i know how to use it
i would use it if i had to
i dont need an ak74 with thousands of rounds at my
country n to use if needed
im not that paranoid a person

my neighbors have guns rifles and pistols
they hunt around my property all the time
i have no problem with that

dont take their rights away
when i was young it was not unusual to have guys
come to school with their rifles on a gun rack
we thought nothing of it

i also dont want my neigbors packing heat at their
local church ball game restaurant doctors office or
mall      you get the idea

a bubba with a beer and carrying a gun bothers me

im grey headed and never have i been in a situation 
where in public i needed to be carrying heat
and i dont want to either
but at home thats different

yes we need some time of gun control
we cant have the old west where everyone was
slinging their guns about
thats scary

we dont need to have ak7s and all those other rifles
that are only used in wars and in drug wars
and we sure dont need 6000 rounds of ammo in our
garage

i have guns
many of you have guns
but we need some control on which ones we have and
how much we can have

it is sad that we the united states are the ones that are
supplying the guns for profit to the drug cartels in
mexico
its that profit that is helping fight any gun control in the usa

have your guns for personal use
but not an arsenal
that should not be legal

yes i do plan on purchasing a new pistol soon and i want
that right to do so
but i should not be allowed to buy enough guns and
ammo to support a small army

wonder if any of the congresspersons have what it takes
to do something about this

yes we need gun control
this is not from some antigun person writing this
its time
