this years super bowl was one of the best ever from
pregame to postgame

i enjoyed all the pregame music and interviews and stories

thanx to those who set all this one up
it was one of the few i can remember
a super bowl without some type of controversy spinning
around it and political stuff all over the ads and in
the music and commentary by the reporters

thanx to jj watt for making me cry the first time
of several times last night
i was just thinking about how and what he did for all those
harvey folks that needed help
maybe he should run for office one day

yes
it made me cry too

now i didnt know who she was until a few years ago
when i would see folks with a tshirt on that said pink on it
i thought it was a womens movement thing
no they said she is a musician and entertainer
oh
i thought
one of those rock star athletes
until one night i saw her perform on an awards show
oh my
i said
how can she sing so good doing those cirque du soleil things in the air
ive been a fan since
then
she was overcome with the flu this week
she has had a long time desire to sing at the super bowl
to sing the national anthem
she was determined to do it despite the flu
so
as they panned for a close up
she spit out her throat lozenge
she had this i dont feel real good
that flu look on her face
but
well
she nailed it
made me cry again
my heroine

then the half time show
jt had me hopping and bouncing all over the couch
i like the way he engaged the crowd
they all seem to hopping up and down with me
yes
i teared up again when he did the prince song
whats wrong with the critics over singing that duet with prince
it was out of respect
he nailed the performance overall
at least that selfie kid thought so

then the only other time i teared up
well some with some of the commericials
thank goodness they didnt make a joke about those tide things

the other time was after the game during one of the interiviews
with mvp foles
the hero of the night
his story and his family and his winning made me
well my final tearing of the night

now
i was going to be ok with whoever won the game
both storylines would be good

i sure hope we see more of the patriots
is this the beginning of the end
i must say mr brady preformed quite well

i thought to myself
he must be on weed or something
he seems so laid back
so calm
so peaceful like
just taking it all in he was
some lucky team may snag him

THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA

last week i told my wife she
dont plan anything for me on sunday
i want to watch both those playoff games

i really wanted to watch the old man play
to see if he could do it again

that old man is
tom brady
in football years
40 is old
unless i guess you are like a kicker or something
but
a quarterback is different
you have to
have so many skills
be mentally fit
good arm strength
have the ability to scramble some
have the ability to hold up to all those crushing blows
that quarterbacks have to take

now
as far as 40 year old quarterbacks go
he seems to be in much better condition
mentally
physically

my guess he is better conditioned than some
of the younger quarterbacks

now
he is known to be in super condition
both
physically and mentally
he eats a well regimented diet

when you look at him play
he dont look 40 years old

i am sure a lot of nfl owner teams
would love to have this 40 year old quarterback

now
unlike a lot of folks
i want brady to win it all again
he can set records that probably no one
will ever break

so yes
im rooting for brady
a player for the ages

then
i sort of like the nick foles story
he is on his 3rd or 4th team
he has had one good year
but
now this is his biggest opportunity coming up in 2 weeks
as
the super bowl quarterback
will he be known as the one that knocked brady
out of his last chance for another super bowl win

many of us who lived in the austin area know foles
he played at drew brees high school
then off to arizona
then got drafted
then his nfl carreer is as above

if he wins
i want be disappointed
since the story line will be a good one
just
not as good or as big as tom bradys

thats what i said
about the game
about the half time show

my wife she said that though
after the mr clean commercial
i can clean like that i told her

now
i am well known to not make it past halftime for football games
especially the super bowl
i have not completed the games for years
but
thank goodness for two things

first
lady gagas halftime show
it energized me so much that i was wide awake for the second half
those drones zooming around making those stars
were well
amazing but scary in a way
what is coming in the future

i think she has matured over the years
actually
like my wife she said
he was good for her
he was a good influence
that tony bennet

however
by the start of the fourth quarter
i was doopy eyed
ok
i missed half of the third quarter
but
the second thing
its called dvr

now i will admit i got up this morning
i said
ill just read about the game instead of watching the
final quarter
theres no way even tom brady can beat atlanta
but
something whispered in my head
watch it buddy
dont do like trump did and stop watching it
bet he was disappointed he didnt
since
his 3 boys won

so
i did
at 400am this morning
i cant believe i didnt wake my wife she up
yelling
grunting
but
i didnt thank goodness

what a great game it was
what a great quarterback brady is
i must admit he looks like he is in his 20s
now
i didnt watch to see who got mvp
since
theres no way anyone else but him won it

now i did want to watch though
to see if
right before he shook goodell the commissioners hand
if he spit in his own hand before he shook his hand
i bet he did
or
at least thought about it

i say brady retire now
there is no way you can top this

on the commercials
my favorite one was the skittle one
short simple funny

there were too many film and tv show commercials that seemed
to have taken spaces away from potentially better commercials
they all seemed to be dark

then there was this one
the 84lumber one
i guess if you work in the construction business
you understand why they made this video
this commercial

without mexican immigrants there would be no construction

it was deemed too controversial by fox tv
get real
these commercials are made to make you think
or
rethink about your views on things

so
i watched the commercial
i watched the controversial commercial

i wanted to make the decision for myself
not rely on someones censorship
someones biased opinion one way or another

my view
it should have been shown
start a conversation about a topic that is not going away
the wall is not the solution

it needs to be settled
humanely

heres my take

HERES MY TAKE
before dvrs came along i missed many a super bowl
finale
it seems the game would end way beyond my bedtime
but
this year was different

i strategically planned my sleep last night
getting a good night sleep
which is unusual for me
then
strategically planning an afternoon nap
 that allowed me to be energized for the game
and
to make it all the way through

i made it and was i glad i did


so my take on the game
first i wanted the patriots to win
i got tired of all that inflate deflate stuff on the news
what i hope is that tom brady and coach had nothing
to do with it
and
the news media and many an ex nfl football player
especically some of the quarterbacks
eg troy aikman and matt bonner owe them a
public apology
lots of them

sharks for chum is what the news folks were

so im glad the patriots won

i like russel wilson one of my favorite quarterbacks
and
didnt want to see him lose
but somebody had to

just
not the way they did
im sorry
just give the ball to the guy that wont talk
and
let him ram himself through for the touchdown

of course
if the pass would have worked
we would be saying the praises of wilson
and
the hawks coaches

all tom brady could do was hope and sit and watch
the result was out of his hands

the patriots remind me of a flock of chickens
if one of the chickens get sick or gets injured
the other chickens will peck on them
chase them around
abuse them
those injured ones even if they use to be the head
chicken

so beli chick did that
he pecked and pecked at the seahawks wounded
finding those weak spots
to make their big plays

sorry for those who dont like him
hes a great coach
must be smarter than a whip
like that he wore flip flops all week

so
im happy i saw the first full super bowl game in a long time
and
saw all the ads but have no real favorite

i dont care about the amount of air in the football

the half time show was ok
but
cant singers just rely on just their music and their voice

i would have called a running play in the end

tom brady is one of the best quarterbacks ever

russel wilson is now my favorite quarterback
he is a great player and a great person
we need more athletes like him

the seahawks will have a long long off season
but will im sure have a burning fire in their gut all season
if all those injured stars heal up ok
they will be back

the nfl super bowl is the sporting event of the year
i see no replacement in the works
nbc did a good job

so now
its a dead time in sports
one of those bad times of the year for sport fanatics
just some college basketball until
march madness

what did those broncos smoke before that game
since pot is legal now in denver
maybe they partook too much before the game

its legal in denver but not yet in seattle
that may be the explanation of what happened last night
in the super BowL

i enjoyed watching the commercials
to have a break from the game

there wasnt a dominant commercial
at least not as dominant as the seahawks were
well i did like the dog and horse commercial
and
the nascar mountain dew one that called dale jrs nascar to the pond

then the half time show
its noted on facebook there sure were a lot of female comments
about bruno
alot

when that first snap went over peytons head into the end zone
2-0
i thought this is not going to be good
then
the first play of the second half
that kickoff to percy harvin for a touchdown
game was definitely over then


whos malcom smith
never heard of him
of course i had never heard of most of their players
on that seattle team

i dont think he should have gotten the mvp
it should have gone to the seahawks defense
what total domination by them
of the explosive bronco offense

couldnt they just have given it to the whole defense team
seems right to me

there was no way that richard sherman could win mvp
since there was no way anyone would throw the ball in
his direction

the seahawks offense just didnt make any mistakes
of course for awhile i didnt think they would ever
get back on the field

i see a big paycheck in his future
ive always liked him since his college days
just does his job and doesnt make mistakes

its mistakes
those turnovers fumbles interceptions penalties
is what loses games
except last night
it was those
plus that smothering seattle defense

yes i would say it was an unsuper BOWL last night
it will be a long off season for the broncos and peyton

then next year the seattle team will be the favorite
no doubt
with such a young team
of course eventually all those good players will outprice what
seattle can pay

SUPER BONG BOWL
sometimes the teams that play in the super bowl
just seem to be predetermined by fate

like when the new orleans saints made it to the super bowl
after the katrina disaster
and after the superdome was rebuilt
it was destined that the saints team and drew brees
to be in the super bowl
and to win it all

this year its seems the two teams were predetermined again
or predestined to be
yes
seattle and denver
why
because this is the year that the states of washington and
colorado legalized marijuana use

heck in the denver airport now
if you forget to dispose of your pot before you go
through the tsa line
that have a special container that you dump it in
with no penalties
hum wonder what they do with all that trash
but
get on that plane with it and  get caught
then the feds will hang your butt

seems strange doesnt it how our laws work
or should i say dont work sometimes

i think sometimes of all the kids and athletes lives that
have been ruined by having the weed in their possession
a entry level into the legal system
that at least in these two super bowl cities wont happen
anymore

all this for denver and colorado gives a new meaning
to rocky mountain high

according to reports over 50% of nfl players smoke the weed
the nfl apparently only test for it in the off season
all the players know when that it will be
get caught with a positive test then you are stupid

also apparently a lot of players use it for pain relief and
for stress relief during the season

some new reports are coming out that the weed can be used
in concussions and may speed the healing process in the brain
so in the future you may see the concussed player on the sidelines
eating a brownie smoking a joint or having a bud

in fact new studies in alzheimers disease shows that mild use of
weed may be helpful in improving short term memory loss
but of course like alcohol excessive use or stoners have a problem
that develops with their memory

i think if i lived in washington or colorado or if texas had medical weed
that i would take a brownie each night before i go to bed
to help to counteract the effects on my sleep of the aricept (donepezil)
that i take for possible alzheimers disease
and
to maybe improve my short term memory

so if you visit me be careful eating any of my brownies that are in
my cookie jar

its highly unlikely that the two star qbs in this game smoke the weed
or maybe ever did
peyton manning drinks beer i know he said so
thats the only bud he partakes of
russell wilson is so dang smart
he probably does little to harm himself or
his rep

then theres richard sherman
i know people says he is a thug
hes not
hes an honor student from high school who has his degree from stanford
with a high gpa
most of you/us cant even get into stanford much less have a high gpa if you
did
then hes a multimillionaire well set for life

ive watched him on interviews multiple times
what an intelligent person he is
thug he is not

it was his final play that put the seahawks in the super bowl
heck i would have been excited too

so this super bong bowl will take place on sunday
it will be cold but not as bad as what was expected
no snow or rain as of now

THE FINAL WEEKEND
if you are a nfl professional football fan
which i am
a cowboy fan
the final weekend is coming up that will decide what
two teams will go to the super bowl

it looks like the super bowl
will be old school vs new school
wonder which method will win

two of the best quarterbacks ever
will be going against
each other next weekend at mile high stadium in denver
brady vs manning

two old school white guys who have won before
pocket passers that seem to win even when their teams
are not made up of the best players
proof that if you want to win it all you have to have that
franchise quarterback

some teams just cant seem to get that one right
let say cleveland browns who keep drafting them and then
nothing happens
maybe its the organization

of course the patriots have one of the best coaches ever
he says stuff at press conferences but it always sounds
like some teenager answering when you ask them a question
i dont know

then the other game this weekend is the new guys vs each other
the new kids on the block playing new school football
both are exciting to watch

of the two i like russell wilson the most
athletic smart real smart ex baseball player graduate student
just seems to know when to pass and when not to and when to run
not bad for a short guy

i personally hope that from all of this that peyton manning stands
on the podium at the end of the super bowl and lifts the lombardi
trophy-his second trophy
maybe that will shut up all the sports guys who says hes not one
of the best ever

if all the nfl players he is the number one player i would choose to
watch to play
i doubt that there will ever ever be another peyton manning

speaking of cowboys i notice that jerry jones is pushing to expand
the playoffs to more games
that way his and my cowboys will make the playoffs each year

the SUPER bowl

now that was what a super bowl should be like
it was definitely a two eyelid open game
while i must admit i fell asleep with 3.5 minutes to go
but
i was saved by the dvr
woke up after the game and immediately rewound it
and watch the exciting ending
that was a long 3.5 minutes of playing time
it seemed like 30 minutes

the game had brothers
i know a harbargh won
but was it jim or john

the game had two good quarterbacks
one exciting
well caterprenicker
i cant ever spell his name
looked like a rookie in the first half
but an extra 30 minutes of rest in the second half
i guess it calmed it down
they kicked a$$ the second half but not hard enough

then mr calm guy blanco
well thats how i remember his name
like the town near austin

who it seems no one can give him
credit for being good
he was playing for $20 million dollars
thats what he may get next year in his contract
guess i would play good too
but he is steady and does his job
a workmans type quarterback

i know its flacco and kaepernick


then there was beyonce
or bounce as i like to call her
was she hot
who cares if she lipsynched it which she didnt

move over madonna
youve been out done plus

bounce blew out all the circuits to the stadium with that
performance and delayed the game
im glad
i needed that extra 30 minutes to get my bp and heart rate
back down to normal
definitely a 2 thumbs up performance

then there was that second half comeback by san francisco
why does that always seem to happen in sports when there
is a delay
the team thats doing good doesnt
the team thats doing bad gets better


then the commercials
my two favorites were the farmers commercial with paul harvey
thought he was dead
it would have been better without that truck at the end
guess it was the gardening bug i have that made me like it

then the one i liked the best was
the commercial where the old people escaped from the
nursing home and had an all night partying night
and getting tattoes

move over milleniums
us baby boomers remember the 60s and 70s
and well not go out quietly

overall best super bowl in a while

by getting me my tattoo
