farther on the other side

FARTHER ON THE OTHER SIDE
Image result for organicgreendoctor
thats me looking for my prescriptions

thats what has happened to me
i have gone farther on the other side than i
use to be

no i didnt become some radical opposite viewed
person
but
i tell you with all the stuff thats going on in the us
from politics to race to football
i sometimes want to

this is about being on your side now
the patients side
now
ive complained about this before

its been a gradual change to the patient side

now
i still like to sit in the waiting room
waiting
waiting
waiting
thats why its called that
a waiting room

i do like to sit out there
though
to watch and listen to folks

sometimes
i just want to speak up
you know if you would take this for that
it would clear things up
and
you wouldnt have to sit and wait and spend money
to know what i know and will tell you for free

i also just like to watch folks
listen to the receptionists or nurses on the phone
huh
excuse me
we are sitting over here
i can hear you talking about ms smith
and
about her periods
about her depression
about her lab results
about her next appointments

privacy is a word that seems to be getting lost here

then
my oh my
try to get a prescription refill
now thats an ordeal

all i got to say is
cant anyone get your prescriptions right

yes
i have experienced this first hand
as
has my wife she

now
i know how the system works
i worked in it for years
i know how to go back through the system
to get it correct
but
my of my how do folks take care of this
who dont have my insight

i see a lot of frustration
aboiling

the doctors office says
no you call your pharmacists
they will send a request
we will then ok it
and
send it back
eventually
ok
so it may not be right
but
well at least you got some medicine
maybe
the dose will be wrong
or
the brand is ordered
or
the amount will be wrong
but
you will eventually get your medicine

so
you get your medicine
thats not the right dose
thats not the right amount
thats the brand and i use the generic

well
either we will send another request
or
you can just call back the doctor
or
worse
you will have to call back the doctor

so it starts all over again

somewhere in the system things arent written down right
once eg its in a computer wrong
well
it must be true since its written down
forever

im sure most of you have had this happen before

we sometimes buy our prescriptions at costco
and get a 6 months supply
since its cheaper to just pay cash for them
but
somehow the system cant understand that
it seems to only know 1 month or 3 months

now
i have the back door numbers to my doctors
i can circumvent the above inefficient system
to get things fixed

i have done that before
after i played the part of the typical patient

now i know the people involved all along the path
i realize they are doing their job as best as they can
but
somewhere this is written down wrong

it can cause a $10 prescription to become a $200 one

now multiple this by all yall who are patients
thats all of you

well
thats a lot of money and a lot of errors

i am slowly being driven farther to the other side
the patients side

this should be a requirement for all providers
to be on the other side

i dont like it much

poly, we win

POLY

what if i told you that you could reduce your risk of
developing cardiovascular disease by 80%
thats stroke and heart attack
interesting is that this treatment may also reduce
your risk for developing alzheimers disease

at the cost of 50 cents a day
with a side effect profile of 8-15%

would you be willing to do it

well its called the polypill
its been written about and researched a lot
an indian company even manufactures it
all the ingredients rolled into one

and

the good thing is that all the ingredients are generic
and when you go and purchase them separately
eg at costco pharmacy they only cost
$0.50 a day
thats $15 a month
$180 a year

so i went to the costco website and priced #100 of each of
the ingredients

aspirin 81 mg-$5.00     it prevents clot formation ie heart attack
folic acid 1 mg-$7.81   it lowers homocysteine levels as high levels may
                                    increase chances of heart attack
atenolol 25 mg a beta blocker for blood pressure-$6.90
simvastatin 40 a cholesterol medication-$10.83
lisinopril  5 mg a blood pressure medication-$7.91
hctz 12.5 mgm a diuretic and blood pressure medication-$10.83

put these in a polypill and take it every day
reduce your risk by 80%
then
add a mediterranean diet
add mild exercise

this sounds too dang easy

i looked at this pill real close and thought
wait a minute
im already on 4 of these medications already
they dont bother me in any way

wait a minute
i read a lot of research articles on alzheimers
and how to possibly slow things down
they suggest
aspirin
folic acid
a statin like simvastatin etc to lower cholesterol
blood pressure medication to keep your blood pressure down

im already doing a good job
lets just say im on the mini polypill

i wonder oh i wonder
what isnt this being done universally

i think i know part of the reason
dont you

WE WIN

one of my goals when i was a practicing physician was to
save my patients money on their prescriptions
i used generic as much as possible
now days its so easy to do
and
i recommend they go to the costco pharmacy website to price
check the drugs
www.costco.com

here is what eg i found and we actually do on all the medications
that my wife she and i take

my wife she takes
a thyroid hormone but yes her endocrinologists insists she takes
the brand version
whatever i said
ill chose my battle on this one

price brand for 100-$88.47
insurance price-$90

blood pressure medication for 100-$7.91
insurance price-$30

cholesterol medication for 100-$19.42
insurance price-$30
-
my wife shes total
generic cash price-$115.80
insurance costs-$150

the organicgreen doctors medications for 100 pills each
aricept generic for possible alzheimers-$27.58
insurance price-$30

blood pressure medication-$10.83
inurance price-$30

stomach acid reducer-$20.83
otc price-$36
insurance price-$30

cholesterol medicine-$40.12
insurance price-$30
ok so i lost $10 on this one
but i only go to the pharmacy every 180 days to get my
medications

the organicgreen doctor total
generic cash price-$99.36
insurance price-$120

plus i only go twice a year
yes you can get a prescription from your doctor for 180 pills
if you are paying cash price
plus
you are beating the system
finally we as consumers are able to do this

so i suggest
you look closely at your medications as there are a lot of
generic versions of similar medications
then
you look at your medications and run them through this
price checker
paying close attention to what the brand cost is also
youll be surprised and probably a little nauseated
and
youll be able to answer that question i asked on the first part
of this blog

also add a comment if you have a question about your medication
for a generic version on this blog or on my facebook page

DO TAKE A MOMENT OF PAUSE  TODAY AND REMEMBER
THOSE LOST IN THE 9/11 ATTACKS
