successful fall

SUCCESSFUL FALL
no this isnt about a successful football team this fall
since
the teams i follow hogs horns cowboys arent necessarily
having the best fall season ever
well the horns may have kicked in but the next few games
will tell us whether they are any good or not

this fall is successful because of the walks to end alzheimers that
we participate in

this weekend this group which is the organicgreendoctor.com team
walked in the bell county walk to end alzheimers in temple texas

our team member km did the energetic warm up for the walk

this walk was probably the most successful one
not because its raised the most
but because it far exceeded the expectations and goals that
were set for the walk

they or we since i walked in it with the team and am on the committee
for the walk
raised almost $37,000 with more on the way
at 150% of what the original goal was
had 27 teams with over 238 walkers for the event
which was done at the beautiful pepper creek trails park

join us next year

our group which included my wife she and i walked in three walks
we had over 70 people walk with us for the three walks
we raised $4,000 with another $1,000 raised for my brothers team
#joe nash for the little rock arkansas walk in two weeks

a successful fall walk season for sure

for the central texas chapter of the alzheimers association
its 4 walks raised $293,000
had 243 teams
had 2088 walkers
a successful walk season for the chapter and our team

my wife she and i along with family and friends will be walking
in the walk to end alzheimers in little rock on november 16

the majority of the #joe nash team lives 120 miles away
but they are the largest team for that walk so far
and have raised the most money for the walk
all done in the honor of my brother #joe nash
who died in august from this terrible disease

it should be a successful walk

so where does this money all go
why do we take all this effort to raise this money
folks there is a cure just around the corner
eg i hope to enter a treatment trial soon for alzheimers disease
we are getting there

the alzheimers association is the third largest supporter of
research in the world behind china and the national institutes of health
a lot of the money goes into research

then a lot goes into education of patients families and
health providers

the alzheimers association provides a lot of support for families
through classes support groups seminars

they have an excellent website www.alz.org

so the money is well spent
almost all of the money they receive comes from donations
and most of that is from these walks to end alzheimers

so
thats why i walk to raise money
and to honor those especially in our family stricken with this disease

my younger brother joe
my mother nell
my father charles
