ANNIVERSARY
today is two anniversary days
one is the anniversary of my parents
now deceased
we miss them

the other
is the anniversary of this blog

it was originally started
when my wife she suggested i watch this pbs show
on a lady that started blogging
and
now makes her living doing it

i said
i can do that
so
i did
and
i havent looked back

i started blogging on our living at the country n
on things like rainwater harvesting organic garden larry the rooster
chickenering etc
also
i hoped to write some on what it was like to be working
as a family doctor

then that fall late winter
it started as an ocular migraine
i had wavy lines like i was looking at a messed up tv
it lasted 30 minutes
was this the start of it all
i dont know

then 3 months later while volunteering to be in the normal
control group of a large national research study
at ut southwestern in dallas
it was noted that i had short term memory problems
i was not aware of

from there i went to having a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment
and
getting placed on the alzheimers medicine aricept (donepezil)
to now being in a large new experimental treatment trial for
alzheimers disease called the aducanumab study

so
i refocused the blog to include my journey with my diagnosis
luckily for me it hasnt progressed in 7 years
maybe my memory has slightly improved
its definitely stable

so now 7 years later
i have written over 1719 blogs
had my blog reviewed as many as 700,00+ times
from folks around the country
around the world

i communicate with them frequently over this blog facebook and twitter
answering questions about gardening rainwater collection etc and
of course
alzheimers disease

so
this summer as we enter another phase of our life
here in socal
we hope to continue our journey with the same focus as before
gardening organically of course
healthy living
alzheimers disease and our quest for a treatment and cure
ms b
anything else i can find interesting thats happening in the world
yep
theres plenty of material to write about

i hope to write until it doesnt make sense
the words i put down on this computer

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

today is my anniversary
no i dont mean my wife she and i s anniversary
but
its the anniversary of this blog

one saturday afternoon 3 years ago my wife she said
to me after i came inside after working in the yard
i want you to see this pbs show
its about this lady thats started writing this blog just
to help herself
it was therapeutic
then she shared some with her friends
then they shared it
now its a popular blog that makes her a 6 figured salary

in the back of my mind i had always wanted to do a blog
to write about being a doctor organic gardening rainwater collection
solar power green living

so i told my wife i bet i could do that
so i sat down the first day and wrote a short paragraph defining
what i would blog about

then 3 months later i was hit with my diagnosis
mild cognitive impairment amnestic type that is thought to be
due to alzheimers disease

this changed the focus of this blog some
but i didnt want it to be just about alzheimers disease as many people
who get diagnosed do with their blog
so
i usually blog about alzheimers only on friday using it to educate folks
about the disease and to promote any fundraising walks or educational
talks that are being done and to let people know where i am
with this disease

ive continued to blog about my original ideas on organic gardening solar
power rainwater collection green living and anything else i find interesting

i also post my blog on twitter and facebook

my blog is read by people all across the us and several countries

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

when this blog is posted i will be soon getting on a plane from
managua nicaragua to the usa
i wrote this blog today august 7 2012 as its the anniversary
day of this blog

two years ago i had been outside working on the country n
it was hot so i stopped and came inside
my wife she said i want you to watch this video i taped about
this lady that started a blog and was successful with it
she has over a million followers
she began writing about her daily life as she was going through
some rough times in her life
for her it was therapeutic
i now understand this
the more she wrote the more people loved her blogs
my wife she said you should do that

i told her that i had always wanted to write a blog
about organic gardening organic green living and about being a doctor
so that day i got on google got a domain and started this blog

it seemed so innocent when i started
i didnt know that within three months my life would change forever
heck i even wrote blogs about alzheimers and mild cognitive impairment
but little did i know that those diagnosis  would be tagged on me
and i would have to discontinue practicing medicine

i added alzheimers as one of my focuses of this blog but still write
about other things like organic gardening green living and other
interesting things  i see or read and of course duct tape

i have met a large number of people over this blog
many follow it for the green stuff and others for the alzheimers stuff
i feel like i have been able to educate people about this disease
since i am in one of the major studies looking at alzheimers called
the adni study and had been a practicing physician

i answer questions frequently via email this blog and facebook and

several people after reading this blog have been evaluated and found
to have the disease
while others have luckily been found not to have the disease
we all worry about getting it you know

several people have entered studies after reading this blog
thats one of the goals of this blog encouragement and education
about alzheimers

my blog entry that is the hardest to read is the last day thanks blog
i was asked to read it for the video thats at the top of my blog and
have been asked to read it aloud to groups but i still cant do it

the alzheimers bent to this blog has been the most important thing
that has happen to it over the last 2 years

but i have kept it not all about alzheimers though

most viewers are from the usa then china the european countries canada
india and thanks to my wet suitcase sister nicaragua
most viewers are from texas arkansas and california as that is what
states i have lived in but this blog has regular viewers or have had viewers
