it was good

IT WAS GOOD
there are good ones and bad ones
the bad ones sometimes leaves scars that last a long time
since
i may have limited time i dont want any bad ones anymore

my wife she and i use to travel on the holidays
since her relatives and our sons live in california we are
talking about trips there really and always via airplanes
on the two busiest weekends of the year
(except for the formula one and longhorn football combo
weekend here)
it just takes a snow storm or ice storm or thunder storm
to make it a miserable trip
eg
once there was a thunderstorm in houston which delayed our
flights from austin then a snow storm in denver caused us a
delay there on our connecting flight
so our 500 pm arrival time became a 500 am arrival time
with an overnight nap in a cold airport
this is just one story there are others that can just ruin an
otherwise nice holiday weekend
so
we dont travel on holidays anymore
we travel on off holidays only
it makes our lives better i think

this thanksgiving weekend was a good experience
since we didnt have to travel any and experience any
of the travel maladies that can ruin the visits
it just sets a bad tone
you know murphys law
when things go bad they just get worse

you know like when alabama so invincible played auburn
this weekend
you just knew watching the game that alabama wasnt going
to win
murphys law was in play
one second to go do you kneel down and try to win in overtime
or kick a field goal to win
or throw a hail mary to try to win

nick must not have known about murphys law or he would have
just have had the qb kneel down
but he didnt
the only good that will come out of this is that alabama will play
in a bowl game against a real good team and it may be a better
game then the one for the national championship

my wife she decided we woud have a turduckin for thanksgiving
guess my turkey i cooked with sage wasnt good enough last year
or my son frying the turkey might be too dangerous

so i agreed what else was i going to do
at least theres no bones to deal with
carving it was easy even she could have done it instead of me

a brother and wife  a son a nephew a neighbor and two friends joined us
for a pot luck turduckin thanksgiving
(thats turkey duck chicken n dressing all wrapped up with
no bones)
it was great with football watching afterwards and a small nap
then left overs for two days
then
turkey n dumpling soup with home made cornbread
with fried green tomatoes from fresh tomatoes from my wife
shes school garden sorry kids
last night
it doesnt get better than this

we did get an overdose of football if thats possible
it seemed all the games we watched were all good and we
were able to spread them out over the weekend
interspersing them with other activities

also this weekend i gave a tour to some friends brother and
family from louisiana of our country n
they wanted to see the landscaping garden compost solar system
and the rainwater system

i think they learned more than they wanted to know
but
i hope that they learned something they can take back to
lousiana to use at their home

we ended the weekend with a trip to the movies
to see one that we probably shouldnt have seen on
such a good weekend
more about that later

yes
it was a good one
this thanksgiving weekend

happy thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

may each of you have a happy thanksgiving tomorrow
and have the beginning of a great holiday season

tomorrow we will be celebrating thanksgiving with a
turkey dinner
ill cook the turkey using a sage lemon recipe that worked
well last year
kept the turkey real moist
then of course well have all kind of fixings to go with it

afterwards we have been know to watch football the
rest of the day

read this morning if you are the one that cooks thanksgiving dinner
and do most of the work that you  will burn over
700 calories doing that

however

most of us will consume 3000-5000 calories each
and the food that has the most calories in it that we
will eat will be

pecan pie

so if you cook the turkey you will be able to offset the
pecan pie calories

guess thats what ill do

do have a happy thanksgiving
and think of those things to be thankful for this year

DARK THANKSGIVING
why are the retailers trying to make thanksgiving darker by making
a black thanksgiving
whats next a black halloween or black veterans day

you have and for watching football all day

leave the darkness to black friday
