yes its time we make it legal so we can tax it
then maybe we wont have to tax the rich so much

lets tax marijuana
lets make it legal
im not talking about medical marijuana which really is a joke
its just a way to make it available to anyone who wants
to use it
medical marijuana

a way around the rules

lets take our head out of the sand
its readily available now
just ask your kids if you want to know how readily available it its

i also thought a lot about the drug testing for steroids in high school
that really made no sense at all
they should have been doing drug tests for illegal drugs on the players
they would have been surprised by the number of positive tests
of course many of the texas high school football teams could be
adversely affected

yes sometimes we dont really do what makes sense
catch a kid on illegal drugs and you may be able to alter his future
there just werent many if any kids caught in the steroid drug testing

money not well spent

the legal system should treat marijuana use in kids just like a minor in
possession of alcohol
quit ruining some of these kids lives with our stringent laws

the kids are smoking the weed
college students are
adults are

we tax alcohol
lets tax the weed

the state of texas would make millions of dollars in tax revenue from
the taxes on marijuana
money we could use here maybe for schools or health care for women
and children
or for drug and alcohol rehabilitation

smoking marijuana is not going away
it never will
just like alcohol is not going away
it never will

lets take some of the profit from the drug dealers and cartels
and shift it to our governments pockets
spend less on the legal system handling the pot cases
that makes kids part of a system that can destroy their lives

remember they will be smoking it like they will be drinking alcohol
by taxing it and making it legal we hopefully can control the
effect that criminalization of its use has made on peoples lives

i dont smoke marijuana and never was a user
i drink alcohol but in moderation
if someone wants to smoke the weed in moderation it doesnt bother me
dont over use it like alcohol or it also can destroy your lives

i watch the hbo show boardwalk empire about the illegal alcohol trade
during prohibition and hear stories from kinfolk from the south who
had relatives who made and sold moonshine
now all that has gone away

would that happen with marijuana
maybe

but lets tax it and regulate it and spend our tax money
on some other criminal element like rape robbery murder hard drugs

FINAL UPDATE
this is the final update on our video for the neurofilm festival
at the american academy of neurology annual meeting

our video didnt win but two well deserving videos did

our video did have the most viewings of any of the other ones
during the contest
we had over 3100+ views

MULTINAMES
recently when my wife she and i had our surprise mutual
birthday party i received several birthday gifts

yesterday while looking through the cards i noticed that mine
didnt really have my real name on them


one was addressed
happy birthday to
dr water

my neighbor who was also my patient when i was in practice
starting calling me dr water after i helped him design and put
in his rainwater collection system
ive been working on him to make that final conversion to a
complete system
right now he uses his rainwater to water his garden and to
provide water to his several horses

another was addressed
dr duct tape

if you look at my index on my blog or if you do a search of my
blog for duct tape you will see several ok a lot of entries for
duct tape

in my practice the biggest use was to use duct tape for wart removal
people would come in with a wart and i would recommend they
apply duct tape to the wart and leave it on for a week
many times the wart would peel off when you removed the duct tape
this especially worked well on the fingers and toes where freezing
would hurt like hell or cause scarring

doc i just paid a $20 copay to have you tell me to use duct tape
many sure were skeptical but many came back pleased
or
i could just freeze the wart off and make them cry
cause some scaring and charge $60 which the insurance probably
wouldnt pay
results the same


then there was the famous duct tape chair i did at home
that my wife she regrets ever picking up at some sale somewhere
where they sell junk and dragging it home to fix
i fixed it ok
i covered it with duct tape and its my prized possession
told her i wanted to be buried sitting up in that chair
they can just duct tape me in place

so dr duct tape it is



then theres the one

so many of my younger patients didnt know my real name
they just thought dr duck was who i was

i talked to them in donald duck talk and had donald duck
pictures for them to color and
had duck stuff everywhere
what else would they think right

finally four, post tour

FINALLY FOUR
finally we have four teams left in the ncaa march madness
division 1 basketball tournament
this weekend i got to watch all of the games
well they did happen during some of my nap times but
i saw enought to get the jest of how the games went
and

im sorry to say i was watching live yesterday when the louisville
player went down with that horrific injury
why did they have to show that replay of what happened
all you had to do was watch the other players both coaches and
the fans reaction to this injury

thank goodness they didnt show it anymore the rest of the game
dont think charles barkley would have made it through the
half time show

i worked with an ambulance company during college attending wrecks
and worked in the emergency room as a er doctor for several years
and that injury bothered me a lot

hope espn doesnt show the replays over and over
will be disappointed if they do

my brackets have only one team in the final four
louisville who i think will win it all next weekend
although michigan looked good in its win

my thoughts to the player kevin ware and his family
hope his recover is a good one

POST TOUR

weve done the funky chicken tour now for several years
it seemed this years selections at least the five that we saw
were better than usual

not only was there coops with chickens on the sites but there
was rainwater collection going on xeric landscaping ponds
gardening using water conserving methods
i sure enjoyed visiting with the owners and the visitors
who were my kind of  people

one site that was interesting was at an elementary school that
had the two tiered coop built up against the window of one
of the classrooms so the kids could watch the chickens as they
nested laid their eggs dusted dug around in the bedding
heck they even let a chicken run around in the classroom
sometimes
each kid gets to help with the care of the chickens
collecting eggs  cleaning out the coop
the bedding with its rich manure is placed in the compost pile
which is later used in the schools garden
what a hands on educational experience for these kids
in town near the inner city

one intriguing location whose owner is associated with
the urban patchwork organization had chickens and ducks
which provided eggs for sale and manure for the garden
a greenhouse which also grew mushrooms
and a fish pond that was used to water their rain gardens

the chickens also had a run around the large garden space which
helped cut down on insects entering the garden
(i have the same system here at the country n)

the garden beds rarely have to get watered
they use a method where the dirt is dug out down to a certain
depth then is replaced with layering of limbs and trunks and leaves
and compost and dirt
at the top the garden has a bowl like appearance so that water doesnt
run off but soaks down into the garden
it almost like a reverse ant hill garden ive written about before
its at ground level
one of their beds that is growing winter crops hasnt been watered
since october
this site we visited was worth the whole trip to this years
funky chicken tour


then there is this pretty purple flower that one of the meals on wheel clients
has in her front beds that ive been admiring now for a year
in fact last week she said why dont you dig some of them up for your place

i wanted to make sure what they were before i did it though
didnt want some invasive plant taking over my landscape

at one of the funky chicken tour sites there the plant was
i asked the owner who didnt know the name for sure but gave me
enough hints that i was able to identify this plant
as the mexican petunia or ruellia

i plan to transplant some to an isolated bed so that if it becomes invasive
i can hopefully control its growth

so yes the funky chicken tour was a success again
we plan on making it a yearly event we attend
