cutting your hair during these stay at home times

this is the story of how i have cut my hair for the last 11 years

during a 25 year span i only had three people cut my hair
i went every 5-6 weeks to have my hair cut
those three folks lost my business due to either their health issues or their social issues
in april 2010 actually while i was still in practice i saw an ad somewhere about the flowbee system
i vaguely remembered the flowbee from those old 80s ads on tv
they were infomercial ones

i watched the videos and read what folks said about the flowbee system so i bought me one

if you have seen me in the last 11 years i was the one that always did my haircuts

the system cost me about $109.90 plus shipping costs
so i was paying $25 every haircut at 10 haircuts a year that equals $250 a year
for 11 years that equals $2750 i have saved on haircuts during that time

looking at their flowbee website it now costs about $30 more

here is how it works
the cutting end has teeth on it that move back and forth real fast
warning they are razor sharp
you attach plastic attachments that can give you various lengths of cuts or tapering cuts

initially i used our vacuum to attach to the other end but eventually bought this black vacuum thats made to attach to the flowbee
it works much better and there seems to less loss of suction

you put the trimmer end with its attachment onto your head
turn on the vacuum and trimmer
yep its loud
it sucks the hair up into the moving blades for a nice even trim
i do this all over my head until its all done

its that easy

when im done i empty my hair clippings into my compost bucket
then put a drop of oil onto the blades
store the system away until next time

i have over the years simplified mine to just two small attachments that gives me about
1 knuckle length of hair
i keep it uniform all around my head
i use to do tapering and different lengths but over time i just made it simple
i use one length to flowbee my hair all over in about 5 minutes
im done
i then use my beard trimmer to clean up my edges and back

yes i also do a trim on my wife shes hair
it takes me about a minute to do hers
no i dont do coloring

i might just start a home hair trimming business especially if my antibody to covid 19 comes back to show i am now immune to it

i am ahead of my time by about 10 years
about 30+ years

covid 19 recovery update
i was able to walk a mile yesterday with less shortness of breath
i wore my mask and stayed on the opposite side of the street from other walkers
when i got home
i washed my hands real good
even though the chances are im now immune to this disease
if i am immune the biggest danger is that i will bring it to someone on my hands
ill keep washing my hands a lot and keep surfaces wiped down
you cant be too careful

i have a lot of respect i guess thats the word for this virus
it is highly contagious
be careful
be safe
follow the rules
cover your face with a made yourself mask if you go out
wash your hands a lot
keep your hands away from your face
stay inside if you can
