alzheimers news-will these 3 help

ALZHEIMERS NEWS-WILL THESE 3 HELP
Image result for organicgreendoctor
i am always looking and reading for things that may help
to prevent and or to slow down
alzheimers disease

some will probably work
some wont
but
at least one of these if it dont help
i still want to do it anyway

sleep
i ran across this article about research on bad sleep and alzheimers disease
published in the journal brain

basically what they found was that one night of bad sleep
can lead to the increased levels of the bad beta amyloid in the brain
several nights can lead to the elevation of tau protein in the brain

abnormal beta amyloid and tau levels are what many think causes
alzheimers disease

yes they did spinal taps on those folks in the study

basically not getting adequate sleep long term makes you at
an increased risk of getting alzheimers disease

blood pressure meds
this article is about past research showing that controlling blood pressure
with arb inhibitors like losartin and ace inhibitors like lisinopril decreased
the risk of alzheimers disease by 50%

now researchers are looking at a specific arb inhibitor called
losartan to see how well it will work in regards to alzheimers disease
its been around for years
i use to take it but now i take its first cousin
irbesartan
my guess is it probably doesnt matter which one you use for
your blood pressure
the effect will be the same

so i guess unless its contraindicated if you have to take a blood pressure med
and you are concerned for alzheimers disease
consider an arb inhibitor or ace inhibitor

then the last article
the one i like the most
shows that babysitting grandkids may decrease the chances of
developing alzheimers disease

whether it has an effect on you if you are already diagnosed is not known
it might i guess help some

you teach them new things
you read and do memory activities with them
you
let me tell you this ones true
get a lot more exercise

now granted we would be doing this anyway
watching ms b
but now we have an extra incentive to do it

so i would add all three to my regimen
but
i am already doing all three

remember
we need financial support to fight this disease
and
emotional support to deal with it

alzheimers news-good for heart good for brain

ALZHEIMERS NEWS-GOOD FOR HEART GOOD FOR BRAIN
Dewayne
when i was diagnosed six years ago
well it is about 6 years ago
when i was diagnosed
i never returned to practice
after that fateful neurology appointment
giving me my diagnosis
and
that prescription for aricept (donnepezil)
the drug used to treat alzheimers patients when they
were first diagnosed

at the time i was using diet and exercise
to control my blood pressure and my cholesterol
but
it really wasnt getting the two where they needed to be
close real close
but
as i read more and more about maintaining all those healthy things
one was to do for slowing down alzheimers
it was obvious to me
that i need to be more aggressive in controlling
my blood pressure
my cholesterol

so i finally gave in
i eventually got on an arb angiotensin receptor blocker blood pressure pill
that research showed to be the better one for using
in folks at risk for alzheimers disease
its working keeping my blood pressure where it needs to be

then
i began attacking my cholesterol
since reading more on the apoe 4 gene that i have
i realize that a high cholesterol was part of that genes effect
so
i was placed on an aggressive statin treatment for my cholesterol
my insurance chose generic lipitor for me
since they always know whats best for patients
right
but in a recent study done looking at the statins
it worked as well if not better than the others
but the difference wasnt much between the different statins
the risk of alzheimers in white males was decreased
by 17% by atorvastatin the generic lipitor

all this adds to the saying
whats good for the heart is good for the brain

in a study done overseas in europe
there was a 40% decrease in alzheimers risk in the population
by a lifetime of doing all those healthy things we are
suppose to be doing every day

so
my plan is
stay on my atorvastatin
say on my arb blood pressure med
keep taking all my reversal of cognitive decline supplements
continue eating and living healthy
protecting my
heart
and
my brain

and you
what are you doing for your brain
