IT DOESNT MATTER
it doesnt matter
that
bill clinton didnt inhale or had sex or didnt or didnt know what
is was or
george w snorted coke and drank too much when he was younger
or
obama used drugs when he was younger or that
he supports same sex marriage
(most of us dont care about this issue its time to move on to
these other important things)
or
mitt held somebody down in high school and cut his hair or he
put his dog on the top of his car and drove cross country
(well that does bother me some)
or
what religion they are
catholic protestant agnostic unitarian episcopalian
these are what past presidents have been
it doesnt matter
if mitt is mormon or even if obama was moslem which he isnt
hes a protestant
it doesnt matter
that stuff all doesn't matter when it comes to who we pick for president
here are the things that matter
religious freedom-we have to have it to survive here in the us
economy economy economy
jobs
education
womens health issues-they are the majority you know
child health
taxing those not taxed enough
control spending reasonably not on the backs of the poor and women and
children
control military spending
its time
its time for us to get out of afghanistan
we cant afford to be there any more
lets spend that money at home where its needed badly
we cant afford to lose any more soldiers over there
watched a national geographic special on the viet nam war
sure are some similarities
think a lot of americans are tired of us being there
its time
these are the things that i wish the candidates would discuss in this election
as
these are the things that really are important and need fixed
those other things dont matter
I WAS WRONG
when you do a blog its written posted and its there for
everyone to see
forever
last year in april i wrote that i thought the spurs were getting too
old and injured and that the spurs as we knew them were done
for the future
well i was wrong
here they are
all rested all injury free
the old guys are mixed in with a lot of younger guys who let
the old guys like duncan stay fresh legged
they are the turtles of the nba
they just keep plodding along with no one really paying attention
to them
the turtles will be up against the hares
sometimes the turtles win
yep i was wrong
spurs vs okla city is a possibility
definitely turtles vs the hares

it doesnt matter, i was wrong
Monday, April 30, 2012
that was tiring, dreams, draft, playoffs
THAT WAS TIRING
i worked over forty hours last week on the habitat for
humanity house
that was tiring
the mornings were ok but as the day went on it got hot
i now have a lot of respect for those construction workers
who do this every day all year round in all kinds of weather
especially those guys who are older
i will say that i slept the best i have slept in a long time
the aricept insomnia was overcome with marked fatigue
(interesting also was that i did not have any of my aricept
dreams last week)
so now ive found a drug free treatment for insomnia
no rx, no cost
work your a$$ off every day or substitute a good exercise program
it worked well for me
no side effects except for sore muscles and some scrapes and
bruises and some areas of sunburn
but it was worth it
DREAMS
if you read this blog some you know i have aricept dreams
thats vivid dreams that are the side effect of aricept (donepezil)
that i take for my diagnosis
heck yesterday i took a noon nap and i ninjaed a whole room
full of intruders in my bedroom
but last night i had an interesting dream
i went away on a retreat where a lot of my old medical school
classmates were there
interesting was that i recognized them all and they all had been aged
so that i saw them like they would look today 30 years later
you know like what you see when you take a computer program to
age someone
wonder how accurate it was
DRAFT
i enjoyed the nfl draft
ok i was so exhausted from working at the habitat house that i slept
through it all but i did read about it and watched the dvr of some of it
the cowboys did ok in the draft
they got an animal for their defensive backfield
a honey badgers buddy
i cant wait to see andrew luck play and rg3 play this year
sorry andrew youre going to take a beating this year
rg3 you should fair better in the trauma area
it just seemed to be a better draft this year and seemed more
exciting to watch
now we have to wait 4 months until we can watch it on tv again
thats the hard part
PLAYOFFS
the nba playoffs started this weekend
the two teams to beat it seems now that chicago wont make it
is miami and oklahoma city
unless the lakers really kick in good
and if the spurs age hits them in the later rounds
the most valuable player is lebron james
why
he does everything for his team and plays all positions
kevin durant is the second choice
cant wait to watch the playoffs as they progress

LIN MAN
we all love a good story
well heres one
a harvard grad who is playing professional basketball
translation he is smart but may not be a good player
major was economics
he is making $750,00 plus a year
(i know thats a lot to most people but not in the nba
the two players out with injuries make combined $38 million a year)
he sleeps on his brothers couch in his apartment
this is a rarity a harvard grad in the nba
he wasnt drafted out of college
no surprise
not sure if a harvard grad has been drafted before
lets check google
theyll know
looks like one named smith was drafted in the 50s
only three have ever played in the nba
he was cut by two nba teams
then played for 2 nba d league (thats the minor league nba
basketball league eg austin toros is the d league team for the
san antonio spurs)
he was picked up by the ny knicks
and sat on the end of the bench down by the water cooler
and was about to be cut from the team when a lot of injuries
occurred and one night he got put in the game
bam like emerald does when he spices up his meals
jeremy lin added bam to the ny knicks now for several games
he threw down over 30 on kobe bryants lakers the other night
he is filling the arenas wherever he plays
all his team mates and his coach are at awe with his performance
he came out of nowhere
what a great story this year
think i will use this as the point to enter the basketball season
since we are almost two weeks out from football
what a great way to start
lets go lin man
keep it up
a real good feel good story
INTENSE
my wife she and i went to see the movie girl with a dragon tattoo
intense
is the only way to describe this movie
makes you think a lot about a lot of things going on in our society
dont think i could watch it again though
but
do plan on reading the book so i can learn more about the characters
especially the tattoo girl
SAD
sometimes in medicine we have to face the realities of society directly
something politicians dont have to do
this is an article posted on facebook by one of my former classmates
as a non political posting but just to show what really happens
here is the article
many of us who have worked ers in the past have found ourselves in these
situations although less often in past years
am afraid though that it will be occurring more often
this article makes you think about this issue
no matter what side you are on
HABITAT
the construction of the house is going well
its ahead of schedule
the roof decking is almost on as well as most of the siding
the windows and doors were placed this weekend
its starting to look like a house now
next the roof will be placed and the siding all put up
then its inside for the duration except for outside painting

dental care, mri, nba
DENTAL CARE
am doing my least favorite thing today
thats going to the dentist
last year i had two wisdom teeth removed
that sucked big time
glad i wasnt awake when they got them out
something about a chisel and pliers was spoken
but i never asked questions
sure hurt like hell for several days
he told me it wouldnt hurt much but gave me a prescription
for 30 vicodin
that should have been a sign of what was coming
then last year i had to have a new crown put on then after
that had to have a root canal on that same tooth
again that sucked big time
glad i had some of that vicodin laying around
well today
i have to go back to get two new crowns put on
except i remember last year and am not looking forward to
when that numbing medicine wears off and when i stop
slobbering and slurring my speech
then the real pain begins
got me some vicodin left over to use if i need it
maybe that oral surgeon just knew what was in store for me
over the next year
just sayin
seriously
dental care is the entry to good health
brush twice a day
floss each tooth each day
talking to you my wife she
seek dental care annually or twice a year
we do twice a year dental cleaning
promised my last now retired dentist i would do this after i
waited 5 years to see him and came in with a mouth full of problems
it is sad though that less than 50% of americans get regular dental care
of course a lot of dental insurances are not very good
like the one we have
take care of your teeth they are the soul of your health
MRI
had the 6 month followup mri last week and got the report today
this is the 4th mri ive had in the last year
it was normal
this mri for the study is a volumetric mri that is officially read
as part of the adni study using a special computer program that
measures the volume of the brain and especially the hippocampus
where atrophy can occur early on in alzheimers disease
this mri may be one of the tools that is used soon to pick up early
changes in mild cognitive impairment amnestic type and early
alhzheimers disease
next one is in 6 months then will have one every year after that
NBA
beware beware
remember what happened to he nhl
when they lost the whole season
remember you are the number 3 sport in the usa
you have a lot to lose
you dont want to be number 4 or 5 in the future
people are having a lot of financial issues themselves and
are not real tolerable of watching you fight over money
remember you are in the 1% not the 99% like the rest of us
think ill just enjoy those other professional basketball teams
college basketball
just sayin
