NEW WORDS

every year new words get formed
we my wife she and i notice new words just pop into
our use

the latest one we learned when friends were visiting
recently
i asked what does that mean
they said
just gts it
gts it
what do you mean gts
you know
google that stuff

so
my wife she and i
well especially her
says to me when i ask what that means
she says
gts it
with a smirk i might add

so
i looked at this website that listed words that were new
by the year they were introduced
you know
like
google it

i remember when i first heard that on my garden show
i heard the gardener guru say
just have them google it
so
i went to see what google meant
but
there was no google to google it
to see what it meant

we have come a long way havent we
why
just yesterday our screen door on our condo
wouldnt close good
so
i just googled how to adjust a screen door that wont close
there was a picture and explanation
on how to do it

that google
best word ever developed

maybe
amazon

where did you get that
oh i amazoned it yesterday
it was on my porch when i got up this morning

heck
i wanted this particular liquid fertilizer i used in texas
since i couldnt find it here
so
i amazoned it
yep
it was on our steps the next day
how do that do that i asked someone last night

merriam webster dictionary folks have a site
you can type in the year to see what words
were developed that year
so
i picked out
the year i was born 1950
the year i graduated from high school 1968
the last year listed 2016

so i would say the most important word that has
come around since 1950

SHE ALMOST FLUNKED

she almost flunked
that siri
she got a d and google got a b+
she was correct 68% and google was correct 86%
apparently siri gets most of her answers from google
but the apple folks are changing her reliance on google
not sure why since google is more accurate

google understood 100% of the questions and
siri understood 83% of the queries

siri where is elvis buried
siri said i dont know that person
(she of course thought the persons name was elvis buried)
she should have asked me
its graceland
was just there last week

when we were travelling recently we used my wifes gps
on her droid smartphone
i use to live in arkansas and still remembered how
to go from one place to another the quickest route
the phone app was not siri
i called her bitch
cause she was so irritating
she didnt send us on the best routes
she kept saying
when its safe make a u turn you stupid driver

we should have stuck to google maps i guess
at least they dont argue with you

CELL PHONES A GOOD THING
think that after reading this recent article that i will definitely
start using my smart phone more often and try to use it
on both ears

little did they know that science would explain why the new
phones are really called smart phones

in alzheimers disease the body builds up a substance called
beta amyloid that causes plaque buildup
this plaque causes the nerve cells to die
thus the person gets alzheimers disease

also in alzheimers damaged nerve cells there is a problem
with glucose metabolism
cell phone use increases the glucose metabolism in the brain
could that be how this works

at the university of south florida researchers did a study
that suggests that prolonged use of cell phones may prevent
or actually reverse the effect of alzheimers disease

the mice who were genetically programmed to get
alzheimers disease like i am were exposed to cell phone
radiation for 2 hours a day for several months

for those mice who were already having symptoms their
memory improved and
for those mice with amyloid buildup up in the brain the
amyloid buildup disappeared
for those mice without symptoms or disease yet they
retained normal memory

so guess ill stop texting from now on
and will only use my cell phone to do calls
must remember to use it on both sides
and will have to call more people now to increase
my cell phone usage (will use mobile to mobile so i wont
use up all my minutes)

if this is true a generation of teenagers will not get alzheimers

and it gives a new meaning to the word smartphone
