its a good thing

ITS A GOOD THING
its a good thing but its not what i would want for a
national insurance system
i feel like we should have one system
a medicare for all
so we all play under the same rules
and
changes to make it more cost efficient can be easierly made

now the obamacare or aca is a start
but it should be looked at as a start

we all arent stupid
it was carved diced minced
to fit the needs not of the people
thats you and i that would be using the insurance
but
those who have all the influence

just look at who benefits the most under these policies
the insurance companies
the drug companies
the hospital industries
and
despite the whinings of the medical community
doctors ie

from talking to doctor friends
some folks who finally have insurance are so far behind
in their health care that they have a lot of catching up to do
office visits labs xrays medications surgery hospital care

see who benefits financially

now its the law
its doubtful it will be repealed
heck the house has tried humpteen times to do it
its here to stay

there are over 20 million people who benefit from
insurance coverage under this years enrollments
8 million under new obamacare policies
5 million of your kids under 26 staying on your policies
the rest are folks signed up under medicaid
and the ones who were caught between medicaid
and the obamacare policies
except of course those in states where
those in betweeners got left out as their states arent
accepting the federal funds for covering them
and
really those folks are probably the ones that need it
the most

it seems to me if the republicans would accept the fact
that obamacare is here to stay
which i believe it is
i would hate to see what would happen politically if
those 20+ million lost their policies
think all hell would break loose

if they would grab the fact its here to stay
and work to make it a better plan
we and they would benefit from this

its seems not doing so is shooting yourself in the foot

of course the lobbyists for those who will benefit the most
will come in to play to protect their interest
and
as we all are learning
that seems to be the american way now a days

no care i care

NO CARE I CARE
i care that some people will get no care under the
affordable care act or obamacare
no real fault of the act its self
but
because of  the way its being presented to us all
by the news media and those opposed to it

its now the law
there are a lot of protections stuck in the law
it
i will admit and most people no matter their political leanings
will admit
its not perfect and not the way they would have done it

well they we all had our chance to do something
and
as usual the law is what we are stuck with
so
lets try to make the best of it

because of states like texas and florida some of the people who
need the most help are getting left out

so i personally have helped people out by using the states or
the healthcare.gov websites to navigate for them
here is some of what i found

most of the platinum plans may not be good ones
as they are strict restrictive hmos

california there is a reason they have signed up so many people
they make it so easy to do
eg
my son went online once i figured out what policy he needed
he signed up in a matter of minutes on a silver plan

massuchusetts has figured this all out years ago
they cover close to 97% of its people
signing up there is fairly painless

in some states the major carriers are not participating so the choices
are companies i was less familiar with

if you smoke you will pay more
one young person in their twenties that will get subsidies will
pay $30 more a month since that person smokes

in many cases the plans you can buy on the government site
have better coverage than the ones you can buy from the
private insurance company sites

be sure and check if your provider is on the plan thats chosen
as well as the hospitals you like to use

my son travels to two different states so we found a plan that
had providers in those states on his insurance he chose
eg
he chose a good blue cross ppo plan

then one thing i found out was that if you get a subsidy
and
eg a single person makes under $28000 a year
and
if they chose a silver plan the maximum amount of money they
will have to pay out for copays deductibles etc is $2250
which makes it like the gold or platinum plan
eg
one person got this plan with subsidies for $120 a month

another thing is that if you find a plan that pays well to use a
clinic-copays without having to pay the deductible for visits xray lab
er urgent care or scans
you may have higher costs for hospital care

i suggested to people they plug in what health care they had
last year and see what they might have to pay
and what health care they expect this year

also if you arent geting subsidies you dont have to use
the government sites at all
but
i recommend people who dont get subsidies to look at both sites
before making their choice

i also went on sites like www.ehealthinsurance.com and used it to
look at the plans as they like the insurance companies sites
but
unlike the government sites
allow you to sort out the different plans by things like copays
deductibles ppo hmo insurnace company maximum out of pocket
expenses etc
then i went to the government websites to look at the policies it
selected

so massachusetts has figured it all out already
thanks to mitt romney
california has made it easy
other states like yes texas florida utah etc has made it
difficult to do

its all too confusing to most folks
all of the people i helped were college educated
computer internet savvy folks
and
even i who has been in the medical field for a long time
had to work hard to get all the information to help
these folks make a decision

yes there has to be a better way
maybe a single system

we no matter our political beliefs lose in all this
we will pay one way or another for those not insured

so i care if you have no care

health care, more on sushi

HEALTH CARE
so the law that passed congress on healthcare was unpopular
all of one party and some of the other party opposed it
it was a political issue in the november elections
it was taken to the supreme court and ruled constitutional
it was deemed unamerican and would be the downfall of america
it was a tax and forced on americans
it was unamerican

however now years later if you are 65 and older and no matter your race
religion or political views or your health status you are on
it and are probably glad you have it
its accepted that that will be your health insurance as you get older

its called medicare

now fast forward several years
the affordable health care act or obamacare or now
we all get to have health insurance no matter what law
these same things are being said that were said years ago about
medicare

i predict if you fast forward years and as you your kids and your
grand kids look backward they and you will say
what was all the fuss about
we all are covered now
the health care system will be accepted as we now accept medicare

here is who should be happy that the health insurance law is going forward
almost all of you
remember over 50% of you are already on a single payer system ran by
the government
not many of you will be taxed for not having health insurance
very likely no one that reads this blog will be

if you are a female (which is over 50% of you) you should be happy
you are now not a preexisting condition
you can can get those preventative office visits that yall all have to go to
and now your birth control is covered
your rates wont go up because of your gender and that baby you are
having or will have  will have to be covered

if you have a child with a preexisting condition-that could be asthma
allergies  any surgery  any injury  any belly pain  headaches  add
aspergers  autism  seizures  frequent ear infections and numerous
illnesses kids get-then previously your health insurance could be denied
or coverage for these things could be denied
and your child could not get insurance

it happened to us
our son had some surgery and because of this when he was no longer
on our policy he was denied insurance from many companies and those
who did insure him refused to cover anything dealing with that part of the body
now he would not have had any problems getting insurance

if you have a preexisting condition and you are a adult
remember all of you if you have gone to a doctor have a preexisting condition
you may not be able to get coverage or can be dropped or if you get
coverage your premiums will be higher

i am able to hike 4 hours down into the grand canyon  hike 9 miles in the
hills of lost maples  work eight hours on a construction site  work here at
the country n and have a normal blood pressure  a normal cholesterol
and a normal bmi
but im uninsurable because of my diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment
thats likely due to alzheimers disease
if my wife were to lose her health insurance at work i could not get any
health coverage
now with this law in 2014 i would be able to get insurance

if you have a serious health problem have a premature newborn have
a long term bout with a terminal disease such as alzheimers  huntingtons
als  cancer  emphysema  heart failure etc you could easily go through all of
your annual or life time maximum that is placed on your coverage and you
would be left with no insurance coverage for that illness
the new law prevents this from happening

if you have a son or daughter in college or just getting out of college or
just starting a new job or just getting out of the military they can now
get on your health insurance until they are 26 years old
then they will be able to buy an affordable policy on their own

much of the opposition to this health care law is about problems with
medicare  medicaid  increase drug costs  increase in health insurance premiums
folks those problem were here before this law
they will still be there after the law is in full swing and
if the law had been disallowed would still be there
that is a big smoke screen

also i have noticed that many of those who are opposed to this are not
really affected in any way
theyve got coverage-many are already on a government insurance
most are males
but their wives and their children benefit from the new law
none will probably ever pay the tax for not being covered

in summary
all this political rhetoric is really all a smoke screen to get rid of obama
we all know its true whether we are a republican  democrat or independent
and thats your right as an american citizen to try to oust a politician that
you dont like
i do the same thing when i vote
but not at the expense of so many americans

how could so many people benefit from a law and people be
opposed to it

when we all look back to this time sometime in the future
we all are going to wonder what the heck was the big fuss about
just like what happened with medicare

we will all be on the health insurance system in some way
and will all be glad we are
much like we are with medicare when we turn 65

thank you john roberts
