ive written about texting before

texting while driving-what more can be said than dont do it
its like drinking and driving
bad things have happen to people who do this as well as
to innocent people in other cars and pedestrians

pedtexting is texting while walking-heck ive done this one a few times
ive even walked off a curb and walked into other people and
walked into a post but at least i didnt walk into the water
like that one lady did or walk into that fountain like another one did

cyclotexting is texting while bicycling-my wet suitcase sisterinlaw
crashed her bike that one time when she tried it


jetexting is texting while flying-no not you texting while you on an airplane
but
some pilots have been caught texting instead of flying the airplane
that one bothers me
sure makes me not want to fly
the captain asks that you turn off your cell phones please
doesnt apply to him

skitexting is texting while skiing-i now my sisterinlaw and her crew
have done that one
you think she would learn her lesson


now there is sleep texting or
sleeptexting
i dont think ive done this one yet
it seems its the younger generation that does so much texting all day
long that are the ones susceptible to sleeptexting
also those who have to get up in the middle of the night to communicate
across the globe to folks in china and elsewhere
some people wake up and text their dreams before they really wake up
you know when you are in that no mans land between the dream and
reality

i wonder if ambien use can cause sleeptexting since people sleepeat
and sleepdrive on that stuff

maybe what i should do is sleeptext my aricept dreams that i have
sometimes well almost every night
that way i would always remember what they were about
maybe i could text to my blog and just post them

how to prevent sleeptexting
turn the dam thing off
put it across the room or leave it downstairs
im surprised my wife she hasnt sleeptexted before
since she loves her smartphone so much
and
its an extention of her left hand now

then there is dystextia
you know like
dyslexia-you see words backwards and all jumbled up
dysgraphicism-thats what i have but thanks to the computer and
spell check you dont notice it
i think all doctors have this problem

dystextia is separate from butttexting or that texting that autocorrect does for
you sometimes that makes your message all garbaly

dystexia was demonstrated recently from this article from npr

well it seems his wife was having a stroke
he recognized  something was wrong
this was more than butttexting

he met her and took her to the hospital
she was having a stroke involving the area of the brain that
affects speech

usually with this type of stroke a persons speech would be impaired
but this lady had laryngitis and couldnt talk so no one noticed it

so dystexia can be a sign of a stroke

if you have not used the khan academy website to tutor your child
you should try it
some schools are using this site as homework where the
students do a lesson on this website then work on it the
next day in a large group
eg
how to do an algebra problem
the academy teaches the students online then the next
day the whole class works on the lesson
the kids seem to learn better this way

in texas a study followed a large group of eight graders until 6
years after graduating from high school
only 19.9% received any type of degree within that 6 years
thats no bachelors associate or certificate
that doesnt look very good does it
even ut researchers were shocked at their findings
were going wrong somewhere
maybe college degrees arent what the kids need

i will admit that i got my bachelor degree 8 years after high school
yes it took me awhile but i finally made it
i got my medical degree 14 years after graduating from high school
so the stats didnt fit my situation as being a bad thing

you would think though that with all we are investing or not investing
in our educational system that more kids would have their degrees
by 6 years post high school or at least a 2 year degree or certificate
so this means our work force is mainly only high school educated


teens are texting more and calling less
the average teen texts 50 times a day

how do they get anything done
if i did that many texts i never would get all my honey does and
country n work done
heck some older teenagers average 100 texts a day
only 39% of teenagers even make phone calls

i know its easier to communicate with people using texts
i find myself using it more and more every day
even my motherinlaw is a texting feen

yesterday i released the hounds
these are lady bugs being released in my garden
they were released late in the evening after watering my  potatoes
so they could have moisture to drink
heck theyve been cooped up in a bag in the refrigerator for awhile
and were thirsty and hungry

now they will go out and attack and eat those bad aphids and other
bad bugs

dont know how many times ive dodged people

TOO BIG
so watched too big to fail last night
that was scary also
realized how close we came to the brink of disaster and how
close we came to another big depression

it was nauseating to watch
the people who screwed up made off with all our money
twice

at least they have enacted legislation to prevent all this from
happening again and all those responsible got justice done to them
oops nothing has been fixed

this all developed under both the republican and the democratic
administrations so they are both to be blamed

how come we arent all mad about this

where will elizabeth warren be when we need her the most

DOCS VS NRI
as a family physician seeing a lot of kids one of the things i
talked about with parents was gun safety with kids
keep them locked up or keep them
out of the house(the guns not the kids)

we all have seen the stories of kids shooting themselves or
their friends or family playing with loaded guns

now its is illegal in florida to have that talk with parents by their
childs doctor
doctors can be jailed for doing this

something doesnt seem right with all of this

TEACHERS PAY
teachers always seem to get screwed by the system

now in our state a law is being passed that will allow the
districts to lower teachers pay (aint it low enough as it is)
and to furlough them during the school year without pay

SPORTS
dont like golf
dont play golf
but i like sports and like to watch good players play
loved to watch tiger play before his life fell apart

watched the us open with mcllroy winning yesterday
its hard to believe that guy that looks like opey is that good
was glad he came back from his last disastrous outing to win
golf needs him

cws is in full swing
the florida gators are a batting machine
their 9th batter is better than a lot of teams best hitters
if they have other good pitchers they could win this year

SAVING ELECTRICITY

most of the energy used to wash clothes is heating the
water so the solution is to wash with cold water
we do this out our house by washing and rinsing in cold water
of course we use rain water to wash our clothes

washing your clothes in hot water instead of cold water uses
as much electricity as leaving your refrigerator door open for
a year
now that puts this in terms where we understand the importance
of using cold water

also hot water shrinks, fades your clothes and they wont last as long

use a front loading washer as it uses 2/3 less water than a top loader
we switched to one of these a few years ago
as we are on rainwater for our water system we want to conserve
as much water as possible

or to be truly green get one of those things in the picture at the
top of this blog

i know those hoas ........

total electric power used each year for drying our clothes at
the country n is zero
they smell fresh
if done right dont need ironing
you get to get outside twice with each load
if you hang them out just before a rain they get rinsed again and
they feel even better when you put the clothes on

one draw back can be if you have a dog that likes
flapping clothes
we had one hes not at our place anymore who loved to go
after those big towels
flap flap flap he couldnt resist them

total investment needed to save over $300 a year is the price
of a clothesline

NO TEXTING HERE
if you have ever been to the alamo drafthouse to watch movies you
know what a great place it is to watch movies
foods good theres plenty of room can have a beer or glass of
wine with your meal

they tolerate no talking during the movie and no cell phones
going off
do it and you will be asked to leave with no refunds
its an absolute rule there

now add no texting during the movies
do it and youre gone

seems like he had less than 2 oz in his buses possession
guess they may have lost some in the evidence room

TRACTOR ROUNDUP

my neighbor puts new calves in his pasture every year
they get big over a few months
last time they were bigger and stronger than usual

my pasture is all native grasses    yum yum
two of them would just walk through my fence to get
to the good grass

my wife she and i would chase them out of there
finally got tired of doing this so........

got on my tractor and did an old fashion roundup
yahoo yahoo
did not know i was being filmed

just needed a good calf rope
maybe lasso those lower legs

none of it worked
he just ran right through the fence back to where
he belonged
he never came back though
maybe a grey haired guy on a john deere lawn tractor scared
the bejevies out of him

THE ANSWER-TEXTING
now the who (world health organization) has determined that
talking on cell phones with the phone in your ear-
you know like the guy at the airport that talks the whole
time your waiting for the plane and you have to listen to him or
at the grocery store in line while some lady talks about more
than you want to know about-
causes brain cancer
thought that was settled but now here it is again

guess texting is the answer now
would be nice for that guy at the airport and the lady at
the check out lane to just text

lets see texting while walking, texting while driving, texting while
shopping, etc can sure cause a lot of trauma

bet if they do a statistical analyis of texting and trauma and
injuries vs talking on the phone with the phone in your ear
causing brain cancer
bet that more deaths, injuries and mayhem will be caused by texting

maybe we should all just keep on talking on the phone and just
accept the cancer risk except for the airport guy and the grocery
store lady

my wife she and has developed into more since then

department
she was there to be interviewed and to give me moral support
she had to be interviewed lying down in that infusion chair

there i was trapped on an exam table after my spinal tap
i couldnt get up and walk down the hall to check on her
so i did what all the teenagers and you do
i pulled out my phone and we texted back and forth

she couldnt get up as she would pass out and i couldnt get
up because i had just had a spinal tap

this rain we had here sure perked up the garden

have even seen wildflowers especially the flame wheel or mexican
blanket suddenly pop out everywhere
even the birds seem happier and more active

TEXTDRIVING
now the state legislature is making a law so that is illegal to
text or send email while driving

now that aint right
not the law but texting and email while driving
how do you do that
i tried to do it while driving in my pasture in my old beat up
pickup truck so if i wrecked it or hit something no noticeable
damage would be done (my old truck has been in those
situations a lot and shows all of the scars)
i almost killed myself

i have enough trouble texting while sitting in my chair in the
living room much less while driving

oh yea they decided to let it be legal to read emails and texts
that aint right either
why dont you just read a book while you are at it when driving
