robot restaurants

ROBOT RESTAURANTS
this isnt about restaurants for robots
its about restaurants run or lets say ruined by robots

now my wife she and i dont go out to eat much since we cook most of our meals at home
but
when we do we have a few favorite spots to go to

i like some human interaction when i go out to eat
a friendly hostess
a friendly waitress or waiter
a good well established cook or chef
a nice atmosphere like outside to watch folks
or a nice view of the ocean or the mountains eg

i dont want to walk into a robot restaurant
look at a computer screen
pick our place to sit
order our food off of a monitor
go over to a wall with our seat number on it
pull out our food
sit down and eat it
knowing
a robot made our food for us
mixed our drinks

it feels sort of futuristic in a bad way

i read this article about these places in san francisco that are like this
click on the article to see pictures of some of these places
folks in san fran are in a hurry
they are millennial types
many are in the tech world
maybe all this techy restaurant stuff doesnt bother them
it does me

when i look at the pictures
all i can think of is
in the past
getting a cup of coffee out of that vending machine at an airport or hospital or job site
it always tasted so bad
sorry
give me a human barista at starbucks or other coffee shop for my coffee
they even know my name

i also think of those vending machines where you can get a salad or a sandwich
i have used those before
but
i made sure i smelled them real good
any whiff of a foul smell and i didnt eat them

im not sure i want robot restaurants
leave those to the millennials in san fran
ill
just walk two blocks from our house
say hi to the nice pleasant hostess
sit on the patio
have a drink served by a friendly waitress
eat food from the chef you can wave to as he is cooking
sit outside to watch folks as they walk by

andrew yang who is a democratic candidate for president warns the biggest risk to our job market isnt china
its robots taking our jobs

yep
i want people to serve me my food
