alzheimers news-another reason to get your flu shot

ALZHEIMERS NEWS-ANOTHER REASON TO GET YOUR FLU SHOT

when i finished my family practice residency and entered private practice i missed getting my flu shot
that year i got pneumonia with the flu and missed about 2 weeks of work
it took me several weeks to recover

since that time i have gotten my flu vaxxine every year

maybe after reading this article reviewing some new research you might consider getting your annual flu shot every year
especially
if the risk of alzheimers is in your future

in this study they found that folks over 65 getting one flu shot lowered the risk of alzheimers development over 4 years by 40%

i wonder why
was it the fact that you dont get the flu and thus dont get some inflammatory reaction or some infectious triggering event to make the alzheimers developing process to occur

they also have found that folks who get their annual flu vaxxine over years also have a lower risk for developing alzheimers

then
i read research that says that getting a covid infection can trigger the appearance in the brain of the abnormal biomarkers seen in alzheimers disease

some have theirs resolve some dont

so
in summary
get your flu shot every year
get all your covid vaxxines

both
could prevent you from developing alzheimer's disease

biogen embark aduhelm study update

a tau pet scan was done this week
its done annually
i wish i could line all mine up to see how things have progressed over the last few years
the same for my amyloid pet scans
it would be nice to know how much its progressed over the last 5 years or not

next week i will have an mri which is part of my annual screening and is part of the protocol for getting my several months of the full dose 10 mg/kg aduhelm dose

then in two weeks i get my next infusion of aduhelm or aducanumab
if the aduhelm or aducanumab is working on my next amyloid pet scan most of the amyloid plaque measured on the scan should be gone

the big question is
will it make a difference in my disease progression
if so
when
