mind your heart

MIND YOUR HEART
see these rainbow colors in this food
red green yellow purple orange
well if you are eating these rainbow colored foods every day
then
you are minding your heart
mind your heart
you mind your brain
you attack your risks for heart attack stroke dementia

how do you mind your heart
well
with the mind diet

my guess is that a lot of the food all of you like to eat is on the list from the mind diet
ill link a good article here on the mind diet

i based my diet on the mind diet
altering it to fit the foods i like to eat
i dont eat a lot of red meat but i do when i decide i want some
what ive noticed as i have started eating less and less red meat i dont have an urge for it much anymore

this diet includes vegetables with an emphasis on green leafy ones fruits nuts berries olive oil fish poultry whole grains beans limited wine
limit but dont eliminate butter margarine cheese red meat fried foods pastries and sweets
eg limit fried foods to once a week
yes i occasionally eat fried foods usually in the form of fried green tomatoes

note my garden and thus my green tomatoes are kept behind a locked gate
this keeps my wife she from picking my green tomatoes
thus limiting my fried foods

here is my diet for today

1 egg with toast a handful of mixed unsalted nuts 1 banana
later this morning i will have another handful of mixed nuts and an apple

for lunch i will have a big ole tomato sandwich with tomato cucumber lettuce mix with carrots and cauliflower broccoli banana pepper on the side and maybe a few chips
for desert a vegan cookie from traders joes that is the best cookie i can find to eat

for supper we will eat a pot of billie beans or peruvan beans that i grew in my garden and picked fresh yesterday and shelled on my front porch just like we did in the south when i was growing up
my wife she will cook a pan of iron skillet corn bread
thats a veggie right
we add a glass of wine at 500pm
and
another cookie

all of this is on the mind diet
when the big tomatoes arent available i will substitute turkey on my sandwich maybe add a slice of cheese

tomorrow night our supper will be either grilled veggies from the garden to include egg plant peppers tomatoes potatoes onions garlic green beans and whatever else i can find in the frig or garden
or
we might do a stirfry with olive oil of amaryth walking collard leaves malibar spinach dinosaur kale curly leaf kale and some unkown leaf an asian gardener told me to put in my stirfry and three different basil leaves
we will add another stirfry of green beans from the garden mixed with garlic and onion and some sesame seed based sauce
all of this will be from my garden except of course the rice that we will add to the meal

so thats a sampling of how i do my mind diet
also you should limit portions and dont over do the stuff that needs limited like fried foods red meat etc

why am i writing about this
well
it seems that as mentioned in this article that if you follow a mostly plant based diet that you can reduce cardiovascular events by 32%
cardiovascular events are heart attacks heart failure kidney failure stroke
some folks are adding dementia to cardiovascular or vascular events

this was shown in this study that followed people for 30 years who ate a mostly plant based diet
sudden early death from these risks were reduced by 25%

add a little extra exercise and i bet those numbers get even better

when i look at all of this i realize growing up since we ate so much from our garden that we mostly ate a plant based diet

so
look over your diet
adjust it to fit the mind diet

thats how you mind your heart and your brain
