covid 19-scrabble variants are here

COVID 19-SCRABBLE VARIANTS ARE HERE

dr peter hotez from baylor college of medicine in houston calls the new covid variants scrabble variants after the game scrabble
one called xbb is a nasty variant
it and others similar to it with names like bq.1.1 and ba.275.2 are popping up
and
may take over

these guys are highly contagious
these new scrabble variants evade the monoclonal antibodies that use to work against covid
now they dont
paxlovid still works but its felt eventually it wont work
they evade the immunity from early immunity from infections and from the original shots
the new bivalent covid shot works against the scrabble variants
so far that is
eventually the scrabble variants will mutate and the bivalent covid shot wont work
for now it does

the variants mutate to become resistant to the covid vaxxine
thus
the vaccines will need to become annual to keep up
sort of like the flu shot does each year

its felt that about 120,000 folks will die from covid this year
about 40,000 will die during a bad flu year
so
covid is still worse than a bad flu year outbreak

those who will be hospitalized and or die are mainly older folks and immunocompromised folks and those unvaxxinated

get you bivalent covid shot to protect you this winter
dont play the scrabble game

covid update
i got sick one week ago with fever headache body ache cough fatigue nausea
i tested positive for covid
i borrowed my wife shes dose of paxlovid and took it within an hour of symptoms

by 48 hours i was symptom free

here is my covid test at day 7
negative
so im free to have my infusion of aduhelm at ucla tomorrow

my wife she had a rougher course but after starting the paxlovid her symptoms rapidly resolved
today at day 10 she is asymptomatic except for fatigue

the other two infected in this family outbreak are asymptomatic except for fatigue also

this outbreak in the 4 of us disrupted a lot of activities for us and others
some of us felt bad for a few days
two ended up in urgent care for evaluation
we were all high risk for covid infection

none of us enjoyed the nasty taste from the paxlovid
paxlovid slows down the infection and can prevent hospitalization and or death from covid
it needs to be started within 5 days of symptoms
i may have set a record for one hour

we are also hoping for no rebound after stopping the paxlovid

moving forward
we all plan to return to full activities this week
i will plan to wear mask for the rest of the week just to be safe
i will get a flu shot as soon as i can ie i have to wait until 10-28-22 because of the aduhelm clinical trail rules on immunizations after my infusion
i will get my bivalent covid shot in december or january per cdc recommendations

i will wear a mask in high risk situations to avoid covid and the other respiratory viruses that come by this time of year

so
dont play the scrabble game
get maximum protection
dont ruin part of your fall and winter and your holidays
