drought buster

DROUGHT BUSTER
i think all the rain we have had around here
has been the drought buster we have been
looking for

when i look at the drought map of our area
where we live
the dark dark color has now faded so it looks like
a small coffee stain on our county

the best example of how much rain we have had
is the pictures of
sometimes island on lake travis
the water source of austin texas and surrounding cities

heres a before
Image result for sometimes island before and after the rains
heres a right now
Image result for sometimes island before and after the rains
it soon will completely disappear

now may set a record for the wettest month ever in
this area
well since records have been kept starting in 1895
all this rain did a lot of destruction but its done a lot of good
the lake has gone up 36 feet since the first of the year
most of that in the last week

here at the country n everything has had a growth spurt
its especially seen in the growth spurt of trees
that have almost sat dormant in recent years
now they have taken off in their growth

on the lake the boat ramps have reopened
businesses have reappeared
things are booming

what i am afraid of
is
that we will lose sight of water conservation
like
we did after the oil embargo of the 70s when you couldnt hardly
find gasoline
when things got better
we lost sight again of what can happen with oil shortages

we are like that now with the water

now its great the lake is up that 36 feet in the last month
its almost full
but we know from past experience
you know history repeats itself
that the lake will fall again
especially
as this area grows and grows and uses up more of the water
in the lakes and under the ground

but
no
im afraid we will do what we always do
like a kid with halloween candy
we will eat it all at one time
then
we wont have any candy left

so
keep up the water conservation practices
keep the water restrictions
keep xeriscaping our yards

we my wife she and i have learned to do that even now
as the rainwater tanks for our house and
landscape are full
we still practice water conservation
since
we know what goes around will come around
