ms b in the garden

MS B IN THE GARDEN
both ms b and mr h love to go into the garden
mr h gets all excited when we drive up
he starts grunting trying to talk and pointing
he knows
his favorite is the pumpkin thats sitting between me and my garden buddy in the picture below
mr h likes to sit on the pumpkin and pet and talk to it
he if you could ask him would say the chickens are his favorite in the garden
this last week we brought one of ms bs friends to the garden
ms l
she had never been there before

i asked her
have you ever fed a chicken before
no she said
as she held the end of a long dinosaur kale leaf so the chicken could nibble on it

from the chickens we wandered down across the garden to the fruit orchard
where there are around 20 different citrus trees
their favorite was the satsuma orange
its easy to peel
and
its tasty

they picked their own and peeled them and ate them
several each
then
they wandered through the banana grove where racks of bananas were growing
several racks of baby bananas were in reaching distance
they were too green to eat but they enjoyed patting them
oh baby bananas they said

i even told them the story an elementary student told me as we were leading her class through the grove this fall
she said
you know
i saw monkeys in here one time
so
i told that story to ms b and ms l
their eyes got big
they scooted closer to me
ms b reached up and held onto my hand
they stayed real close as we walked the rest of the way through the grove
ok
ill admit
when they werent looking
i reached over and shook one of the giant banana trees
i will also admit
it did sound like monkeys were jumping from tree to tree

no
we dont have monkeys in our banana groves
but
they sure thought we did
from the banana grove
we wandered around and into the greenhouse
yall want to water the veggies in here
you betcha they did
all kids like to water and play with the water
so
they watered all the plants in there
they did manage to get a little wet
then
to end the tour of the garden
i said
yall want some sweet peas
yes yes yes they said
kids seem to love these
so
we went over to my garden plot
in the picture above the green sweet peas are growing to the far right in the picture above on the fence lattice i put up

they picked
peeled
then ate several green sweet peas each

we sure like the garden they said as they climbed back in the car to go home
a little dirty
a little happy
a full tummy
happy

the indoctrination continues
