the top crop grown here

this is the first two strawberries i grew at the country n
now it appears from this article that the top vegetable fruit crop grown in santa barbara is strawberries
now the ones you see grown around here are much bigger than mine

when you think of santa barbara you think of nice weather lots of sunshine the wharf the beaches the santa barbara mission wine country the iconic architecture amongst other things
this wikipedia link tells you more about santa barbara

the county of santa barbara is really a mostly rural one
the top half is more agricultural and conservative and rural and more like texas hill country
the top half is red and voted for trump
the bottom half is blue and voted for biden
the top half is rural
the bottom half is more urban
the top half is cheaper to live in
the bottom half well its expense
there is a lot of wine vineyards scattered north of the city
its quite a beautiful landscape to behold
there is a lot of cannabis farms north of the city
and a lot south of the city
just take a deep breath in the morning as you drive the 101 south of the city

there is a casino north in the foothills and mountains called the chumash casino
nearby is michael jacksons notorious ranch

most folks who visit here try to go see the beaches, the wharf, the mission, the courthouse, the natural mission, montecito where opra and ellen and other celebrities live
its not unusual to see folks you see on tv wandering around
eg we bumped into katy perry at the local kids museum and another time at an easter egg hunt
both times she was with her child

we well at least i leave them along
they deserve their privacy

also folks tour the vineyards going from one to the  other
we have done them at least once
i learned a lot about wine making and wine
i especially like the organic ones since they speak my language

agriculture does more than 2 billion dollars a year in this county
there are tours folks can do
our community garden is usually part of an annual tour of santa barbara
folks pay to tour our garden and collect veggie samples
one tour that came through were mainly chefs from out of state
they really liked our community garden

the total production for strawberries was around $800,000 last year
thats a lot of strawberries folks

number two was cauliflower
interesting since we have trouble growing it in our garden

number three is grapes

the number two agriculture crop or some say its number one in santa barbara is sometimes edible
marijuana or cannibis

it is the number one crop in california

maybe they could combine number one and number two and make a strawberry edible
