alzheimers news-a diet for your mind

ALZHEIMERS NEWS-A DIET FOR YOUR MIND

there are two diets recommended for alzheimers prevention
the mediteranean diet
then
the mind diet

mind stands for mediterranean dash intervention for neurodegenerative delay
it is a combo of the mediterranean diet plus the dash or dietary approaches to stop hypertension
this combo makes the mediterranean diet and the dash diet better

in this nih study linked here called the mind diet to stop cognitive delay they are studying seniors who are overweight and have suboptimal diets and have normal memories

previous articles and studies have shown or implied that the mind diet or similar diets can slow down the process

this nih article linked here discusses the mind diet and alzhiemers

so whats in a mind diet

Ingredients of the MIND Diet

The MIND diet focuses on plant-based foods linked to dementia prevention. It encourages eating from 10 healthy food groups:

  • Leafy green vegetables, at least 6 servings/week
  • Other vegetables, at least 1 serving/day
  • Berries, at least 2 servings/week
  • Whole grains, at least 3 servings/day
  • Fish, 1 serving/week
  • Poultry, 2 servings/week
  • Beans, 3 servings/week
  • Nuts, 5 servings/week
  • Wine, 1 glass/day*
  • Olive oil

The MIND diet limits servings of red meat, sweets, cheese, butter/margarine and fast/fried food.

this article lists a lot of evidence that it helps the brain

so i have been on the mind diet for at least the last 10 years
does it help
does it make a difference in my memory
i hope so
i think it does
especially when i add it to the other things i do
like
take aricept (donepezil)
control my weight blood pressure and cholesterol
stay active mentally physically and socially
try to get adequate sleep
avoid stress

what if i had eaten like this when i was 40 or 30 or 20 or 10 or all my life
would i be where i am today with my diagnosis
maybe
maybe not

the evidence is that doing those healthy things including eating a mind like diet can lower your risk in some studies by almost 50%

if you are art risk for alzheimers then your kids are and your grandkids are
make sure they are on a mind diet

the mind diet also helps to prevent diabetes heart disease stroke cancer

i am not really sure why you wouldnt follow this mind diet
right
