the elf on the shelf

THE ELF ON THE SHELF 

that is ms bs elf on the shelf holding on for dear life sitting atop the light fixture in their living room
that poor guy or gal has already been in some precarious places but manages to not fall off

this week as i sat montioring ms b in her kindergarten class she explained to me the rules of 

the elf on the shelf 

the elf who she says can be a boy or a girl comes down from the north pole where they live with santa claus
their job is to monitor how well the child is behaving
ie are they being naughty or nice
you meaning ms b is not allowed to touch the elf on the shelf cause if you do they return back to the north pole
ie you dont get no presents and they tell santa claus
she does get upset if i attempt to just touch it
she even has little mr h knowing not to touch it
he is enamored by it all

if you are being naughty and not nice the elf goes back and reports it to santa claus
each night the elf on returning from the north pole and reporting on how ms b is doing lands itself on a different location
so far its been on top of the pumpkin on top of the mantel on top of the big doll house
if i try to touch the elf ms b gets upset with me

i told her this week as she wasnt paying good attention to her teacher
you know the elf is looking and will report back to santa
she has been much better at paying attention at her virtual school which is a challenge

i told my wife she and ms bs mom that just maybe they should keep the elf on the shelf around all year

another thing that i noticed as she was telling me about this and looking at her iphone watching her limited time of videos that a new video on the elf on the shelf just popped up
was that a coincidence

maybe the elf on the shelf is real
