whats a nurdle

WHATS A NURDLE

this is the bottle dispenser for our handwashing soap we use
actually we use dishwashing liquid since its cheaper
we use an ecofriendly liquid
however
its really hard to do ecofriendly dispensers since they sort of are recyclable
the pushy thing on top and the screw part i dont think is recyclable
but
i do recycle the rest of the container
hopefully it really goes to some place where its really recycled and doesnt get dumped in some garbage pit in a foreign country

one thing we do is reuse this container over and over again
we bought this one i think before the pandemic started

but we really i guess cant get away from plastic can we
if covid doesnt kill us all
then the plastic trash may be our undoing

from huffington post article on nurdles

this dispenser above before it was molded into a dispenser was a bucket of plastic beads called
nurdles

there are parts of the world where if you catch a fish they will have nurdles in their stomachs and mouths and on their skin
if you happen to swim in the water where there are nurdles you will have them in your hair in your ears in your nose and in your stomach
they also get other places you dont want them
just think of sand at the beach
you know what i mean

those little nurdle balls are a source of pollution all over the world
thats even not including all those plastic islands that float around in the ocean
at least you can retrieve some of the plastic island stuff

the bad thing about nurdles is that they absorb toxic materials from the water and they also absorb bad bacteria and viruses on their surfaces

they actually cause more damage than oil spills
its the pollution that most of us have never heard of

the guardian wrote this article about nurdles

so
if someone calls you a nurdle
its not like being called a nerd
its a bad label to be put on you

dont be a nurdle
